Civil War Round Table of Anderson County, South Carolina We meet the second Monday of each month to study and discuss the true history of the War Between the States.

Our meetings are open to anyone who has an interest in learning the history of this major part of America's history. Our members are involved in living history events, lineage societies, and tracing their family history. We strongly believe in educating ourselves, our community, and the generation to follow us.

November Meeting is Monday, November 11th, 2013, 6:30pm, at Boulevard Baptist Church, Anderson, SC. Our program will be "Dear Old Roswell", The Story of the Ladies of Roswell, Georgia. Join us, as we learn about this often overlooked story of Roswell, Georgia, which is northwest of Atlanta.

This month we will be sharing the stories and tales of our ancestors from the Civil War Era. Come honor your personal history from this pivotal point in American History.

The Campaign for Chattanooga, including the Battle of Chickamauga, will be out August Meeting topic. James H. Ogden, III will be our guest speaker. Ogden's program features a floor map of the campaign. James Ogden, III is the Historian for the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and the Moccasin Bend Archeological District. The meeting is Monday, August 12th, 2013, at 6:30pm, at Boulevard Baptist Church, Anderson. All are welcome.

The Civil War Round Table will observe Confederate Heritage Month tonight, May 13th, at 6:30pm, at Boulevard Baptist Church. Jack Marlar will be speaking on The Hunley, Southern Ingenuity, Technological Innovations, & Engineering Advances. This promises to be an educational evening as we learn of the tecnology of the CSS Hunley, the Confederate Submarine, which sank the USS Housatonic on February 17th, 1864 , becoming the first submarine to sink an enemy ship. Our meetings are always open to the public.

Today marks the 150th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. Over the weekend, I learned that this freed all slaves forever in America. Truth check: the Emanicpation Proclamation only freed slaves in the rebellious states (Confederate States). All slaves in America were not free until December 1868. Take some time to read the Emancipation Proclamation and educate yourself on the true history of America's Civil War, aka War Between the States.

Brooks will present "An Evening with Anna Jackson". In first person persona, Anna Jackson will share the private General Stonewall Jackson. Brooks offers a captivating preformance, which educates the audience with a well researched fact based program. We look forward to seeing you for this remarkable evening.

The Civil War Round Table of Anderson County will meet on Monday, October 8th, at 6:30pm, Boulevard Baptist Church, Anderson, South Carolina.

Dr. Jeff Smith of Greenville, South Carolina, will be speaking on his book, "The Loyalist ~ The Life & Times of Andrew Johnson". An often overlooked part of the Civil War, Johnson's life is interesting and thought provoking. Join us for an educational evening and share your thoughts on Andrew Johnson.

We are saddened by the loss of one of our Charter Members, Bill Burns. Bill's love of the War Between the States and his commitment to the true history of this conflict was an inspiration to us all. Bill will live on in our hearts and we will carry on with our education mission here. God's Grace and Peace, Bill.
