🌎Today is World Environment Day, a reminder about the importance of protecting the natural resources that make our communities and waterways so special.🌎

At Lake Hartwell Association, environmental stewardship is at the heart of our mission. From shoreline cleanups and water quality education to promoting safe and responsible recreation, we are committed to preserving the beauty and health of Lake Hartwell for future generations.

World Environment Day is a great reminder that small actions can make a big difference:

🚤 Practice responsible boating
🐟 Protect wildlife and habitats
💧 Help keep our water clean
♻️ Reduce, reuse, and recycle whenever possible

Together, we can ensure that Lake Hartwell remains a beautiful place to live, work, and play for years to come.

Thank you to our members, volunteers, partners, and supporters who help make a difference every day.

📢 LHA remains committed to providing our members with accurate, timely, and reliable information about issues affecting Lake Hartwell.

With recent news reports and social media discussions surrounding Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs), we wanted to remind our members that LHA previously hosted an informative video discussion on this topic featuring LHA's President and representatives from the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES). The video provides an in-depth look at HABs, how they are monitored, and what lake users should know. Only current LHA members can access this video on our website by logging in and clicking "Blogs and Press Releases" and scrolling to page 2 and clicking our May 22, 2025 post.

As always, LHA will continue to monitor developments and share pertinent updates with our members as factual and accurate information becomes available.

We encourage everyone to refer back to this valuable resource and stay informed through trusted sources. Knowledge is one of the best tools we have to protect and enjoy Lake Hartwell safely. 💙

🚤 Lake Hartwell Association is committed to initiatives that help protect the beauty of our lake and improve safety for everyone on the water. 🌊

In support of National Safe Boating Week 2026, LHA will soon begin offering a special Dock Float Tow Kit available to anyone interested in helping remove loose dock floats from Lake Hartwell.

Each kit will include:
✔️ A long spike/screw to secure into a dock float
✔️ Rope/line to safely tow the float
✔️ Instructions for securing and towing the float to a designated pickup location

LHA is also considering a video or live demonstration to show just how simple and effective the process can be.

Loose dock floats can create dangerous hazards for boaters, and together we can help make the lake safer while keeping it clean and beautiful. 💙

Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks for more details on where you can pick up your Dock Float Tow Kit!
