Connecting our Anderson community with multi-use trails is easier than you think.

The City of Anderson, SC - Local Government owns are large tract of land easements along Whitner Creek that connects Bea Thompson Park and Southwood Academy of the Arts and the Westside Community Center

This exact corridor was mapped out back in the 2014 Connectivity Plan as the Whitner Creek Greenway. The wide City-owned lane running right beside the concrete flume made for an easy, peaceful cycle cruise away from traffic this past weekend.

Seeing families and young riders already naturally drawn to this path proves the point: the route works.

Is a new ANDY Roundabout coming to the 5-way intersection near Anderson University?

Building seamless, multi-use connectivity throughout the City of Anderson, SC - Local Government starts with prioritizing our everyday walkers, runners, and cyclists.

Every step forward on the Electric City Trail network is about linking our neighborhoods, parks, and key destinations into a safer, more active community. A vital piece of that puzzle is supporting the more than 4,000 students at Anderson University who rely on our streets to move around campus and explore the city daily.

Major roadway upgrades, especially modern crosswalks and smarter intersection designs, represent our best opportunity to dramatically improve pedestrian safety while advancing trail connectivity at the exact same time. Slower vehicle speeds and dedicated multi-use paths mean fewer hazards and significantly better access for everyone on foot or two wheels.

We are pushing for infrastructure that treats active transportation as essential rather than an afterthought. Connecting our students and residents safely to the wider city is how Anderson truly moves forward.

Hidden in plain sight right next to City of Anderson, SC - Local Government limits: the Rocky River Nature Park is a massive 178-acre swamp terrain—making it the largest naturally protected wetland in the entire Upstate of South Carolina.

There has been plans on the books for a decade to build a discovery center and observation deck so that our children can enjoy and learn about this critical ecological sanctuary, right here in Anderson County, S.C.

We want this to happen because it's the right thing to do, AND.... it would make for a fantastic trail head stop while traveling from the Anderson Area YMCA and AnMed along the Bailey Creek segment of the Electric City Trail toward Anderson University

Imagine an 18-mile greenway looping entirely around our City of Anderson, SC - Local Government.

We’re talking a trail network that connects the Anderson Anderson Sports & Entertainment Center, the East-West Connector, and the Anderson Area YMCA, AnMed before stretching down shaded pathways past the Calvary Children's Home right to Anderson University —giving 4,300+ students direct access to the healthy outdoors.

From there, it hits the Rocky River Nature Park wetlands (which, honestly, has more swamp rabbits than a certain neighboring county... 😉), follows the abandoned Pickens Railway Company railway line, passes the new Friends of The Park - Anderson County Morningside Park project, and links up with Whitner Creek and the Linley Park trails to bring it all back home.

Greenville’s got a great trail, but an interconnected, city-spanning loop? That's something truly special. As we celebrate 200 years of Anderson history, let’s do big things in Anderson County, S.C.

This past weekend's America’s 5K - 4th of July run in Downtown Anderson by First Flight Alliance was a smashing success with over 500+ participants and lots of fun memories and fitness goals by newbies and experienced runners alike.

Thanks to Run In Anderson , AnMed and the many other supporters of this fantastic event.

See everyone next year as We RUN IN Anderson plans a clean sweep on the podium, ya'll!
