This is a concept that is officially moving toward reality!

Life is continuously a balance of growth and preservation, and finding that sweet spot requires a community effort. The City of Anderson, SC - Local Government recently held a public feedback session for the Downtown Anderson Greenway Connection, and the turnout was incredible. Please link below if you still want to provide some feedback before the next public input session.

A huge thank you to our citizens and the local Downtown Anderson Today leaders who shared their vision, including:

☘️ McGee's Scot-Irish Pub
🏃 Run In Anderson
🍺 Magnetic South Brewery
💼 Ron Haskell Insurance Agency Inc, State Farm

Funding for the Greenway comes partially from our Hospitality Tax collections on food and drinks within the city.

Did you know? By law, these specific funds are restricted. They can only be used for tourism-related projects and quality-of-life enhancements—they cannot be diverted to general road repairs.

Keeping this in mind helps us understand how we can build a more vibrant, walkable city while maintaining our existing infrastructure through the proper channels.

The inaugural run from Downtown Anderson to Linley Park along the new segment of The Electric City Trail was Tuesday with the We RUN IN Anderson group - It was absolutely awesome passing the multiple baseball and softball games happening at the Rec Center and waving to the crowds, crossing the new pedestrian bridge and making it all the way to the Gazebo's at Linley Park.

Don't forget tomorrow (Thursday) from 4-6pm at McGee's Scot-Irish Pub for a drop in any time to review the connectivity plans from the City of Anderson, SC - Local Government

What would it look like to walk, bike or run from Anderson University to the heart of Downtown Anderson using a safe, multi-use pathway?

What about talking an e-bike ride from the Anderson Athletic Campus up to the Anderson Area YMCA along a tree lined multi-use trail? 🌳 That also continues along the East-West Connector to the Anderson Sports & Entertainment Center

We’re dreaming big about a multi-use greenway that links our campus, the YMCA, and the heart of downtown. This isn't just about paths—it’s about:
- Boosting our local businesses.
- Making our city more walkable and vibrant.
- Creating a space where students and neighbors connect.

Let’s make this happen, Anderson.

There is a public drop-in event next Thursday, April 30 to learn more about an exciting new project designed to strengthen connections in the heart of Anderson.

The Downtown Greenway Connection will link key areas of our city—following Whitner Creek from Bleckley Street to Tribble Street and into Downtown—creating a more accessible, walkable, and connected community.

This is a great opportunity to view preliminary plans, ask questions, and share your thoughts. Whether you’re a resident, business owner, or interested in the future of Anderson, you are invited to stop by, explore the vision, and be part of the conversation.

Drop in anytime between 4:00–6:00 PM—hope to see you there!
