Our Hobby

Why do you love model airplanes? What is it that is so fascinating about them? For many that answer will be different. Flying model airplanes is much more than a hobby. Modeling airplanes develops a skill set that familiarizes you with basic electronics, radio control, and principals of aerodynamics and various components of flight. Whether you purchase a ready to fly model or decide to build something from scratch there is something to learn for everyone as the hobby involves a mixture of craft and engineering that allows one to expand their skills and artistic input. The social aspect of model airplanes is a highly regarded component to the hobby. The Academy is Model Aeronautics foundation is built upon the social integration element that has enabled the organization to sanction thousands of events, charitable donations, and bring life to many clubs in our local areas. This development has enabled the production of many clubs and permanent flying fields where people are able to gather and not only enjoy the love of flying model airplanes but develop long lasting friendships with fellow modelers. For those of us with children it also offers a unique experience that we can pass on to them as it engages in an outdoor activity that can produce unlimited amounts of enjoyment. With the hobby developing as technology has evolved there are a variety of methods of learning and something to offer regardless of your skill level, whether you’ve been doing it for 30 years or this is your first day.

Tri-County R/C Flyers has been in existence since the 1970s and offers an opportunity to all of those who have interest in the hobby of model flight to get involved and share their love of flight with others who share the same interest. There is always someone willing to share a tip, give you some guidance or advice and lend you a helping hand as you navigate your way through all the various aspects of this great hobby.
