What does lasting impact look like?

In Ketchikan, it looks like three new homes for local families.

Nearly a decade ago, the Ketchikan Community Foundation received from Wells Fargo's Community and Urban Stabilization Program the donation of a neglected property on Woodland Avenue. KCF saw something more: possibility. Local volunteers, businesses, and partners came together, donating equipment, materials, and countless hours to transform the site and prepare it for a new future.

The property was later sold to Ketchikan Indian Community and Tribal Health Clinic - KIC, creating the opportunity for the housing development that stands there today. And the net proceeds from the sale were added to the Foundation's endowment, helping support local projects and priorities for years to come.

The newly completed triplex is a reminder that community progress doesn't happen overnight. It grows through local generosity, vision, partnership, and investment.

Sometimes the biggest step forward starts with something small like a bus pass to get to work, an ID to apply for housing, or a few nights in a safe place.

The Good Neighbor Fund, powered by the Alaska Community Foundation, helps remove the everyday barriers that can stand between someone and stability. We're grateful to everyone who has supported this work and helped the Fund raise more than $186,000 to care for our neighbors.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the people and organizations helping ensure every Alaskan has a place to belong.

The Fairbanks Q***r Collective is creating spaces where LGBTQ+ youth and adults can build friendships, find support, share stories, and connect with their community. From youth gatherings and mutual aid to intergenerational storytelling, their work is a reminder that people build strong communities when people show up for one another.

With support from ACF’s Social Justice Fund, the Fairbanks Q***r Collective continues expanding opportunities for connection, belonging, and community care across Fairbanks.

As one youth participant shared: "I now have some of the best friends I've had in my life."

When Alaskans invest in one another, belonging lasts — this Pride Month and every month.

A student in a rural Alaskan community shadows a health aide in her village. Another learns to operate heavy equipment and finds out he's good at it. A third gets her first look at an airplane cockpit and decides that's where she's headed.

This is investment in Alaska’s future.

Through organizations like Alaska EXCEL, students across rural communities are getting hands-on, technical experience in careers needed most – and a reason to stay.

The Vocational Fund for Alaska's Future supports organizations like these that expand what’s possible for young people in Alaska and the regions they call home.

As the Alaska Department of Health’s selected grant administrator, ACF is helping lead the program’s implementation through application intake, review coordination, award administration, and ongoing program operations.
