Founded in 1987 by fundraising professionals in Alaska the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Alaska Chapter is committed to supporting and training development professionals throughout the state. We have over 100 active AFP members who serve as development directors, fundraising consultants, grant writers, volunteer fundraisers, foundation executives, and other individuals dedicated to ethical fundraising and philanthropy. We are dedicated to providing training, seminars, education and support to all volunteers and professionals in fundraising in our great state of Alaska. What a wonderful morning of learning, connection, and celebrating the generosity that strengthens communities across Alaska. We're looking forward to this afternoon's keynote session with Ian Adair!

Melissa is a seasoned fundraising leader with over a decade of experience advancing mission-driven causes across Alaska. Currently serving as Senior Director of Development at Camp Fire Alaska, Melissa leads all philanthropic efforts, having previously elevated development programs at Catholic Social Services - Alaska and Bean’s Café. Sgt. Jon Butler is a full-time SWAT Sergeant with the Anchorage Police Department and a dedicated volunteer leader whose community service impacts thousands of Alaskans annually. Serving in leadership and board roles across Anchorage Cops for Community, Beacon Hill, Anchorage Youth Court, and Special Olympics Alaska, Jon mobilizes critical community support through donor engagement, volunteer recruitment, and hands-on program coordination.

From volunteers to development professionals to philanthropists themselves, our awards at the Alaska Philanthropy Day Luncheon will give special Alaskans the recognition they deserve!

✨ Meet Rocky, the 2026 Outstanding Individual Philanthropist! ✨
Rocky Plotnick is an Alaskan philanthropist, community leader, and board member of the Anchorage Opera whose intentional giving strengthens civic engagement, healthcare, culture, and community wellness across the state.

Since 2019, Rocky has provided sustained leadership support to the nonprofit Progress Alaska while regularly investing in a wide circle of nonprofits including Alaska Public Media, The Alaska Center, ACLU of Alaska, and Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage.
