If you have some free time on Thursday, consider joining a group harvesting from a family farm! Anchor Gardens is organizing a group to harvest the last of the fields, known as gleaning. The vegetables will be donated to Bean's Cafe, which is cooking a fantastic lunch for Project Homeless Connect, coming right up on Oct. 26.

What a great partnership!

The group is meeting in Anchorage at 10 a.m. and will carpool to the Valley together. If you can help, email [email protected] and we will connect you with the organizers.

We got up early on this gorgeous Friday for Mini Bike to Work Day! Thanks to all who stopped by our treat station at beautiful Folker Park, right in our neighborhood. We love being part of the community to help our unhoused neighbors and give back where we can.

It's a part of a Week Without Driving that includes free People Mover all week!

Friday morning, businesses and organizations all over town will be handing out goodies including snacks, swag, coffee and more, while supplies last!

Our team is hosting a station at Folker Park: Folker St. and E. 42nd Ave. Come see us! We will have🍊fresh fruit, extra yummy treats, coffee, water and bike maps.

📣 We need 150 volunteers on Oct. 26!

Project Homeless Connect is just four weeks away and we still need a few dozen more helpers.

So many of you step up every time we ask — thank you for everything you've already given our unhoused neighbors.

Project Homeless Connect, Anchorage's biggest resource fair for our unhoused neighbors, returns to the Egan Center on Monday, Oct. 26. In one place, guests can access healthcare, housing resources, a hot meal and a winter coat — and it only happens because volunteers show up to make it work.

Last year, more than double the expected number of guests came, and long lines meant longer waits for people who needed help. This year we're planning for that scale from day one.

Volunteer roles include:
🔹Welcome and intake
🔹Guiding guests
🔹 Serving lunch (70 volunteers needed for this alone!)
🔹 Distributing winter gear

Morning, afternoon, and all-day shifts are all available — a few hours or the whole day, it all matters.

The Anchorage Youth Action Board joined with the faith community today for a community outreach event. Thanks to Church of God, Saints of Christ and Cheerful Givers for putting this on. They had dry goods and non-perishable foods, medical supplies, hygiene items and a hot meal provided by Bean's Cafe.

One of the most popular services offered at Project Homeless Connect, our community resource fair for our unhoused neighbors, are haircuts! We have a few stylists and barbers lined up and are seeking a couple more volunteers.

One of the big draws to Project Homeless Connect is a hot lunch, and this year our partner, Beans Cafe, is planning a special meal. 🍽

The next Community Resource Event is set for this Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1-4 p.m., at Minnesota Park.

The event is presented by the Anchorage Multidisciplinary Team, or AMDOT. Organizers welcome new partners providing services and community members seeking resources.
