Join Us for the 3rd Annual Corene Davis Graham Cancer Telethon!

We are honored to invite you to the 3rd Annual Corene Davis Graham Cancer Telethon, taking place on Sunday, June 7th at the UAA Recital Hall. This telethon, modeled after the Jerry Lewis Telethon from decades ago is dedicated to a profoundly important cause—Uniting for Hope.

This year’s event builds on the incredible success of our previous telethons, shining a light on the urgent need for accessible health resources, particularly for Black women and other marginalized groups. Together, we will not only discuss cancer but also cultivate a sense of community, empowerment, and solidarity.

In recognition of Cancer Survivor Month, this telethon honors the legacy of Corene Davis Graham. Our goal is to raise awareness and funds to improve health outcomes for Black women and underserved communities. We are excited to have you join us for an impactful evening dedicated to education, early detection, and honoring cancer survivors.

Cancer does not discriminate, affecting people from all walks of life. However, alarming disparities exist, especially among Black women, who are more likely to be diagnosed at a later stage, experience delays in treatment, and face higher mortality rates from certain cancers. These statistics highlight the urgent need for collective action, and the Alaska Black Caucus is committed to advocating for health equity and improving access to care.

Through this telethon, we aim to engage our community in meaningful discussions about health, promote participation in screenings, and encourage healthier lifestyles. Together, we can raise awareness and funds to support initiatives that empower individuals and families to make informed health choices.

As we reflect on the legacy of Corene Davis Graham, we are reminded of the strength and resilience within our community. This telethon is a tribute to her spirit and a call to action for us all. Together, we can make a difference.

Let’s unite for hope and health!

The sun is shining, the sidewalks are clearing, and students are getting back on their bikes without worrying about leaving them at the bike rack.

Thanks to funding from the Green Fee Board, the Consortium Library now has bike locks to check out for a single day or up to a semester at a time.

Bike locks are available at the Main Circulation Desk.
