All of us here at the Mission appreciate our dedicated kitchen staff for their daily contribution to the work we do. We especially want to recognize their efforts to make holidays special. We serve many vets and the Memorial Day meal was wonderful. Thank you Daniel and crew for making the day memorable.

Willow Commons, the 32 unit tiny home community for homeless neighbors in recovery, opened recently up the street from the Mission. We wanted to give each person (currently all 32 are women) a housewarming gift as a welcome to the neighborhood.

Our Mission art department ordered 32 prints of a peach watercolor they painted and put each one in a frame so the homes would have something colorful. They wrapped them in tissue and put them in a bag with shelf stable snacks and a welcome letter. Summer from the Anchorage Recovery Center is making sure they get to everyone.

Please join us in praying for the success of this effort to address the needs of those who have made a decision to begin a sober journey.

Big, grateful shout-out to Mountain City Church for a generous donation to our food stores here at the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission. Their Impact Alaska team went shopping then loaded up our warehouse with this sizable blessing.

Mountain City was the first church to contribute to the building of our new kitchen/warehouse a few years ago. They have been faithful supporters and encouragers of this ministry here on Tudor Rd for years.

We are grateful to all who participated and a special, "Thank-you," to my son and daughter-in-law, John and Vanessa Lamantia (left), who were part of the Impact group.

April 19-25 is National Volunteer Week. The Mission would like to recognize all the people who generously donate their time to run clothing and food drives, who serve in our kitchen, minister in chapel and assemble snack and toiletries bags and provide so many other kindnesses to this ministry. May the Lord reward your kindness.

Meet Derek, one of the Customer Service Representatives in our front office. Derek is a treasured member of the Mission team who always goes the extra mile to be kind and to help wherever he can. He is a former graduate of our LifeSkills program and is currently working towards his Peer Support certification. Derek is also a talented artist and Circut user. Here is Derek in his own words:

"After graduating from the Men's LifeSkills program, I joined the staff at the Mission. I love what I do. I love being able to give back to the place that gave me so much. I love interacting with the clients and being able to help them with whatever I can. What I appreciate most is being able to interact with my fellow co-workers, who feel like family.

I strive to be a role model for our current program men as well as our clients. I am seeking a Peer Support certification to help me to better do that. I can't wait to be able to use the tools I am learning now in my future interactions with them.

The future is something I look forward to here at the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission. I thank God for the individuals and donors who make the Mission possible."

Wishing all of our Jewish friends and neighbors a joyous remembrance and celebration of Passover. The LORD is still keeping the "apple of His eye."
