Current Range Notes:

The 80-yard target housing is currently being reconstructed and is not available on the range field at this time.
Permanent range rules signage is scheduled to be installed.
Over the next several years, the ABA will continue working to improve the range and add possible amenities such as bow racks, benches, and other range improvements.
A special thank you to the City of Wasilla, ABA members Mike Zupancic and Mike DeMaria, the ABA Board of Directors, and all of the ABA members and volunteers who contributed their time and effort to make the opening of the range possible. We greatly appreciate everyone who helped bring this project together!

🚨 ACTION ALERT: ALASKA’S REGULATORY PROCESS IS UNDER THREAT 🚨

The Alaska Board of Game has scheduled a Special Meeting to consider major changes to Alaska’s archery equipment regulations.

Among the proposals being considered are changes that would allow:

• Verifiers and clarifiers
• Non-electronic bow scopes
• Electronic sighting systems
• Rangefinding bow sights

Regardless of where individual hunters stand on these technologies, proposals of this magnitude should not be decided through a special meeting outside the normal regulatory cycle. Some of these changes could also negatively impact the progress we’ve been making with bowhunting opportunities in Alaska!

The Board of Game’s established process exists to provide:

✅ Adequate public notice
✅ Meaningful public participation
✅ Advisory committee review
✅ Thorough discussion and deliberation
✅ An opportunity for affected organizations and hunters to prepare informed testimony

Special meetings should be reserved for truly urgent matters that cannot reasonably wait until the next regularly scheduled meeting—not broad policy changes that could permanently affect Alaska’s archery-only hunting opportunities.

The Alaskan Bowhunters Association is asking the Board of Game to take no action on these proposals and require them to go through the normal public proposal process.

Public comments must be submitted by July 15, 2026.
