Join us at 49th State Brewing for an evening of food, drinks, and conversation with Zach Brown, PhD, as he traces the links between fossil fuels and the corruption of our democracy—and how that is all changing as renewable energy sweeps the globe.

Following the talk, Zach will take your questions in a lively Q&A. Light appetizers will be served, and the first 50 attendees will receive a free drink ticket!

We will be screening a collection of videos from around the state, sharing stories of community innovation, partnerships, Alaska’s diverse people and cultures, and the traditions and values that connect generations.

We are so pleased to share another story of everyday Alaskans innovating in the face of energy challenges. As energy costs rise throughout the state, a church in Fairbanks decided to invest in solar energy for its building, leveraging tax credits formerly available through the Inflation Reduction Act. The new solar array, fueled by Alaska’s summer sunshine, has significantly brought down the church’s energy bills, allowing them the opportunity to invest back into their community.

Just THREE DAYS LEFT to update your registration to participate in this year’s election for U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, Alaska Governor, Alaska Senators and Representatives, and ballot measures! The deadline is October 4th.

An out-of-state company, DeepGreen, has proposed building a massive underwater data center off the Cook Inlet. TheFederal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is currently considering granting DeepGreen a permit to pursue a license while studying whether a build out would be feasible.

There are a number of questions that need to be answered on just how a sub-sea data center would impact fisheries and marine habitat off the Cook Inlet. Members of the public can submit a comment to FERC anytime before November 2nd under project number P-15423-000.
