Pick.Click.Give. is a great opportunity to check your PFD status and choose a nonprofit to support with a portion of your dividend. Already made your choice? You can add or change your recipient through August 31!

In 2026, support for Trailside Discovery Camp, a program of The Alaska Center Education Fund, helped provide scholarships to more than 60 families, including over 104 campers!

Since 1980, Trailside has helped Alaska’s youth build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong connection to the natural world through hands-on outdoor education.
Every Pick.Click.Give. donation to Trailside goes directly to the Invest in Youth Scholarship Fund, helping more kids experience the outdoors, learn about Alaska’s wild places, and discover a love of nature and science.

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has proposed giving this land to the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) at no cost for what AIDEA calls a “multi-use industrial and energy development district.” The project could include scalable data centers.

But there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Who would actually use the site? How would it be powered and supplied with water? How many jobs would it create? And what would Alaska get in return?

The proposed acreage also includes documented salmon habitat, moose calving and wintering areas, and more than 40 miles of public trails. If DNR transfers the land, it would permanently leave public ownership.

At the same time, the federal government is considering changes that could make it harder for communities to weigh in on air pollution from projects like data centers, which can rely on large diesel and natural gas generators.

Alaskans have a right to know what is being proposed in our communities and a right to have a say.

Read our latest blog to learn more about AIDEA’s proposal and how you can take action.

Happy Alaska Wild Salmon Day!
Today, we’re celebrating the wild salmon that are woven into the lifeblood of Alaska. Salmon are central to our economy, culture, ecosystems, and identity. Did you know Alaska Wild Salmon Day has been celebrated every August 10th since 2016? Governor Bill Walker signed House Bill 128, establishing the day to celebrate the abundance of Alaska’s five wild Pacific salmon species- king, sockeye, coho, chum, and pink.
But celebrating salmon also means protecting the rivers and habitat they depend on. That’s why the Alaska Center stands with the Native Village of Eklutna in their efforts to restore the Eklutna River and bring salmon back to this vital watershed.
We were honored to join the Native Village of Eklutna for their powwow on August 1st and 2nd and celebrate alongside the community.
This Alaska Wild Salmon Day, we’re grateful for the people working to ensure that future generations can continue to fish, celebrate, and thrive alongside Alaska’s wild salmon.

We've been busy organizing in Fairbanks and getting ready for the 2026 election cycle!

This month, we connected with more than 120 community members at the Midnight Sun Intertribal Pow Wow, the World Eskimo Indian Olympics, and the Golden Days Street Festival. We have been sharing voter information, helping people make a plan to vote, and building excitement for the election.

We're excited to keep the momentum going at the Tanana Valley State Fair and other community events leading up to the Nov. 3 statewide general election.

A huge thank you to everyone who's expressed interest in volunteering! If you'd like to get involved and help strengthen voter engagement in the Interior, contact our Interior Civic Engagement Organizer, David Clark, at [email protected].
