Join Audubon Alaska during Pride Month for the annual Let's Go Birding Together (LGBT) bird walk at Chanshtnu/Westchester Lagoon in Anchorage.

Led by Melanie A. Smith, Audubon’s Director of Digital Science & Data Products, the walk will follow the paved trail along Westchester Lagoon and continue onto the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. Meet at the kayak/canoe launch on Wednesday, June 24, at 6 p.m. for the roughly 90-minute talk and walk.

The fourth annual Utqiaġvik, Alaska - Migratory Bird Festival is coming up! This wildlife conservation and education-focused festival is returning to Fred Ipalook Elementary School from June 12 to 14, 2026.

All events—including bird tours, science talks, kids' activities, and more—are free and open to the community. We can’t wait to see you there!

Bonaparte’s Gulls forage in flight by plunging into the water or dipping to the surface. They also pick up items while swimming or wading—or apparently hovering.

Please welcome Cearah Egwuonwu (she/her), Audubon Alaska's Outreach and Communications Advocate for summer 2026!

Cearah is a rising senior, majoring in geography and minoring in biology at Middlebury College in Vermont. She enjoys taking classes like Conservation Planning with GIS, Ornithology, and Animal Behavior. This past year, she took a gap year to study at Outer Coast in Sitka, Alaska, where she learned about Alaskan Tribal governments, ecology, and storytelling.

In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at the animal shelter, crafting, and going on bike rides! She is excited to be in Anchorage, and is looking forward to seeing all the wildlife (especially the birds)!
