Due to a lack of snow, ASDRA has been unable to put in a trail so both Junior and Senior races are cancelled for this weekend, January 3 & 4. Predicted temperatures are also unfavorable for a one and two dog skill building event. Fingers crossed that the snow forecast for the coming week is accurate or, dare we hope, underestimated. In the meantime, snuggle up with your dogs, stay warm, have your shovels at the ready, and wax those runners.

🎄☃️Glow Stick Run Update for Friday December 19 at 5 PM☃️🎄

🚧Our trail crew groomed the one-mile loop to smooth out the grooves. During that work some gravel mixed into the snow in a few areas. Because of this we encourage the use of a four wheeler or a training sled or training runners to keep the experience safe and enjoyable.🚧

We plan to begin with a short quarter mile one dogger race for the younger juniors. This portion of the evening will depend on safe temperatures for the kids and may be canceled if needed. The rest of the Glow Stick Run will continue as planned.

If you plan to join us please reply to that email or comment on this post with the number of people attending. Your response helps us prepare for the evening.

If you want to add to the warmth of the event feel free to bring a card game or a board game. The clubhouse offers a space where people can gather and enjoy time together.

New ASDRA merchandise will be available for anyone looking for Christmas gifts. Annual memberships and trail passes can also be renewed. Door prizes and discounts will be offered. Teams will be limited to three dog teams due to the marginal hooking out on the trail and support will be staged along the course.

We look forward to an evening of connection and fun with everyone who can attend.

🚨 New Wax Restrictions on ASDRA Trails🚨
Environmental Compliance & Canine Comfort Initiative

After months of rigorous research and extensive consultation with eco-conscious sled dogs, ASDRA is implementing a new policy regarding ski waxing practices on all groomed trails.

Effective immediately, only vegan, gluten-free, biodegradable ski waxes will be permitted. Recent studies have raised concerns that conventional waxes may interfere with snow pH balance, disrupt trail microflora, and, in one test case, gave a lead dog mild static shock from wax-generated friction.

What This Means for Mushers:
✅ All wax must now be certified organic and sourced from renewable tree sap
✅ Random wax sniff tests may be conducted
✅ “Hot waxing” stations will be retrofitted with solar-powered irons
✅ Any musher caught using petroleum-based waxes may be asked to tow their own sled

We’re also proud to announce a new trail-friendly wax alternative, made from recycled tofu water and spruce resin. While it has a slightly pungent aroma, early adopters report a dramatic increase in canine enthusiasm during training runs.

We know change can be slippery—but we believe this policy glides us toward a more sustainable, tail-wagging future.

The weather continues to be uncooperative and the trails are slick and icy creating poor conditions for both drivers and dogs, so tomorrow's junior skill building event is, unfortunately, cancelled. Fingers crossed for some snow this week!!

The 3 mile trail is closed. We are doing bridge maintenance and the 3 mile trail has a bridge that must be repaired.

Internal trails will still be open.

Race Start: 12:00 Noon

What to Expect:

• 2.8-mile trail featuring interactive stations. Don’t forget your camera! 📸
• Open to 1 and 2 dog juniors either as double sled participants or passengers.
• 3 dog teams for juniors qualified to run 3 dogs and adults racing solo.
• Up to 5 dog maximum team with a junior/adult on double sled or junior in the sled basket.

Requirements:
• Must be an ASDRA member with a waiver on file.
