We're hanging out at a measly 2.7% of our energy portfolio while South Dakota is at 95%, Wyoming at 75%, Denmark (similar latitude) 50%.

The Alaska Senate passed our Right to Repair bill today, by a vote of 15 to 5. This bipartisan legislation, which is being carried in the State House by , will require manufacturers of consumer electronics to make parts, tools, and documentation available readily available to owners and independent repair technicians. The bill was narrowed from its original scope and no longer includes things like ATVs or tractors, but still provides clear and robust protections for the common devices with highest demand for independent repair. Right to Repair laws passed in other states have often been watered down with vague exemptions, restrictions, and carveouts that make them nearly impossible to enforce. SB 111 has so far avoided such amendments, and we hope that the House will keep it simple and pass it before the end of session. Special thanks to Hahlen Behnken in my office, who has worked hard on this bill, and to my former Chief of Staff, Ari Wiggin, who brought me the idea several years ago.
