Inspired by the book of Ezekiel, this gathering will explore the spiritual, ecological, and communal significance of water as a source of life, healing and renewal. Come reflect on our shared responsibility to care for Earth and deepen our appreciation for the sacred gift of water that sustains all life.

A fierce advocate for those on the margins, Sr. Jane Abell, OP, dedicated her life to education, leadership and justice. As the first Justice Promoter for the Dominican Sisters of Houston, she educated her fellow Sisters on issues including human trafficking, racism and immigration reform—and organized efforts to help create meaningful change.

Through her courageous advocacy and commitment to justice, Sr. Jane used her voice and leadership to make a difference in the lives of others. Her legacy continues to inspire us to stand with those on the margins and work for a more just world. ❤️

🔥✨ 250 Sisters Who Shaped the USA: Sr. Bernice Garcia, OP

A visionary educator, preacher and entrepreneur, Sr. Bernice Garcia, OP, believed that faith and social mission could create meaningful, lasting change. In 1994, while serving at San Jose Parish in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she partnered with Susan Matteucci to launch Southwest Creations Collaborative (SCC), a sewing and handwork project created to provide dignified, living-wage employment for women from low-income communities.

With a model that also included affordable childcare and other supports, Sr. Bernice and Susan demonstrated that a sustainable business could be driven by a vision for justice and community empowerment. More than 30 years later, SCC’s impact continues, including $19 million in production wages paid to Albuquerque families and contributing to the local economy.

Sr. Bernice’s life reminds us that preaching can take many forms—and that entrepreneurship, education and economic opportunity can be powerful ways to build a more just world. ❤️

Today's prayer:

I wonder at times God
Will I be able to hold it all?
Joys, sorrows, loves, betrayals, sufferings, friendships.

Then I breathe
and breathe again, deeply
and remember how far I have come
how much capacity I have to weather life.

Today, dear God, when I wonder,
remind me of your sustaining love and goodness.
It is enough and will be enough, always.
Amen.

A passionate healthcare advocate, Sr. Brenda Walsh, OP, dedicated her life to helping people access the care they need. Through her compassion, leadership and commitment to health and human dignity, she created the Healthcare Network, helping connect people with essential healthcare services.

Her ministry reflects a deep belief that healthcare is not simply a service, but a matter of dignity, justice and compassion. Through her work, Sr. Brenda helped build a community where people could find the care and support they needed—and her legacy continues to make a difference today. ❤️

A visionary educator and passionate advocate for children with learning differences, Sr. Mary Consilia O’Brien, OP, dedicated her life to helping students discover their gifts and reach their full potential. She taught reading and special education and inaugurated the Center for Developmental Learning and Reading in Newburgh, New York.

Through teaching teachers, consulting with parents and sharing her expertise through landmark books—including The Non-Coping Child: A Handbook for the Teacher of the Failing Child—Sr. Mary Consilia helped transform the way educators understood and supported children who struggled in traditional learning environments. Her work opened doors to greater understanding, compassion and opportunity for countless students. 📖

⚜️✨ 250 Sisters Who Shaped the USA: Mother Catharine Muth, OP ✨

A courageous foundress and visionary, Mother Catharine Muth, OP, dedicated her life to caring for her Sisters and serving the people entrusted to their mission. On May 26, 1884, she traveled by horse and buggy from Jersey City to Caldwell, New Jersey, searching for a healthier home for her community amid the poverty and poor health of the city.

Her vision helped establish a thriving Dominican community in Caldwell, where the Sisters educated children of German immigrants, cared for those in need, farmed the land, and taught painting, sewing and music. As their mission evolved, Mother Catharine wisely recognized that serving God’s people sometimes required letting go of cherished traditions and embracing new ways of living their Dominican vocation.

Her wisdom continues to inspire: “Build a cell within your heart where you can converse continually with the Beloved of your soul.” ❤️

Mother Catharine envisioned contemplative women in the service of God’s people—especially recent immigrants—and her courage, adaptability and deep faith helped shape a Dominican legacy that continues today.
