Our Venerable Ancestors….Living At The Beach!

You wouldn’t be a Long Islander unless you stepped over a Horseshoe Crab at the shore! These amazing creatures, which predate the dinosaurs, are estimated to be some 445-480 million years old, making them living fossils!

Join us on June 10th as we learn a bit more about them. Then carpool with us as we take a trip out to Captree State Park for the June 29th full moon and observe them as they emerge to spawn on the shoreline during high tide before returning to the mysterious depths of the ocean.

War is Back in Vogue! Does the Church have Anything to Say?

June 16, 2026: Are you weary of the ongoing back-and-forth between the Pope and the President and his administration regarding the war in Iran? If you find yourself wondering whether the Church’s teachings have any relevance to war and other global matters, you are not alone.

Georgetown University’s “The Initiative for Catholic Social Thought” has brought together four exceptional leaders to address these pressing issues. Each participant offers unique expertise spanning Catholic Social Thought, International Law, Literature, direct combat experience, and on-the-ground journalism from the region. Their collective insights promise a thoughtful and comprehensive discussion of the challenges and ethical questions facing the world today.

You are invited to listen to the one-hour program featuring these outstanding leaders and their perspectives on war, global issues and Catholic Social Teaching. Then join us on June 16th at 7pm to share your insights and questions.

Stories of Survival: How Not to Let Your Divorce Separate You from the Catholic Church

June 2, 2026: Divorce can shake your identity, your confidence, and your sense of belonging — especially when your Catholic faith is deeply woven into your life.
Stories of Survival is a compassionate, 90minute workshop designed for men and women who feel torn between their lived reality and their spiritual roots.

Together, we’ll explore what the Church truly teaches about divorce, dispel painful myths, and name the emotional and spiritual challenges divorced men and women often face. You’ll gain practical tools for staying connected to your faith, discover supportive resources, and reflect on your own resilience and strength.

If you’ve ever wondered whether there is still a place for you in the Church, this workshop will remind you: you are seen, you are valued, and you still belong.

Date:

Tuesday, June 2, 2026

Time/Place:

Tuesday, 7:00 – 8:30 PM, Zoom

Presenter:

Linda Lockspeiser, LCSW in collaboration with Jill Meise and Maria Sarra
