BREAKING NEWS | TPS UPDATE
A federal judge has issued a court order temporarily halting the Trump administration’s effort to terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals, protecting more than 350,000 Haitians from the immediate loss of legal status and work authorization in the United States.
U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes ruled that the termination could not move forward at this time, allowing Haitian TPS holders to remain lawfully present while the case proceeds through the courts.
TPS was originally designated due to extraordinary conditions in Haiti, including political instability, humanitarian crises, and ongoing security concerns. The ruling provides temporary relief, not a permanent resolution, and underscores the importance of continued advocacy and lawful protections for Haitian families, workers, and business owners who contribute meaningfully to communities across Long Island and the nation.
The Long Island Haitian Chamber of Commerce will continue to monitor developments and share verified updates impacting our community.
