Amherst Community Church is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. We are an open and affirming church: We welcome gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people as fellow children of God. There is an elevator near the main entrance off the parking lot. We strive to make our Christian faith relevant in our daily lives. We participate in several special offerings through the United Church of C

hrist. These include the Neighbors in Need fund, the Christmas Fund and One Great Hour of Sharing. Through the blue offering envelopes, we contribute to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund; this is spent, with the knowledge of only the Council president and the pastor, to help church members in time of need. A set of bylaws outlines what constitutes membership, the function of the Council, the officers of the church, the boards, the Ministerial Relations Committee, the Stewardship Committee and the trustees.

Next Friday, June 5 at 11:00 a.m. we will celebrate the life of Linda Kwasniak in our sanctuary. I found myself thinking about Linda a lot this week as I went about the daily tasks of life - and the single word that continued to come back to me was the word JOY. There was something about Linda that....

This Sunday is PENTECOST! Fifty days after the resurrection, Jesus' followers were suddenly filled with the Holy Spirit as they gathered together. Each year, we celebrate the coming of the Spirit at Pentecost and proclaim that the same power and presence of God is with us even today. Do you believe....

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ Dear Jesus,

To say things are hard right now would be an understatement, but this constant exhaustion, grief, frustration, and confusion at the world is nothing new to you.

I thank you for understanding our pain, accepting our doubts, hearing our cries, and catching our tears. I thank you for not being unaware of what it means to struggle and suffer, and most of all, I thank you for being with us within and through it.

Knowing you are still at our side, holding our hand as we keep going can be the strength we need.

May we find your presence and feel held by you right here, Jesus. Amen

This Sunday we will have the opportunity to reflect on what is called 'the high priestly prayerโ€™ of Jesus that is found in John 17; it is also the week in the liturgical calendar when we recall the ascension of Jesus to heaven after the resurrection. It is a text that is rich, with much to ponder....
