📚⏰ Just one more day to vote for the July 2026 CFI WNY Secular Book Club selection!
Our next meeting takes place on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, and this quarter we’ll be reading a non-fiction book. We’ve got four excellent nominees exploring secularism, science, evolution, psychology, and modern life—and now it’s time to choose!
🗳️ Voting closes Friday, May 15 at 12:00 PM Eastern.
📖 Nominees:
1. The Necessity of Secularism by Ronald A. Lindsay (2014)
A clear and compelling case for secularism in an increasingly pluralistic world, arguing that it is essential for protecting democracy and freedom of conscience.
2. Science Under Siege by Michael E. Mann & Peter J. Hotez (2025)
A timely look at the forces undermining science—and a call to defend evidence-based thinking in the face of growing opposition.
3. The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter (2021)
An exploration of how modern comfort may be harming us—and how embracing challenge and discomfort can improve our lives.
4. Evolution vs. Creationism by Eugenie C. Scott (2009)
An accessible guide to one of the most enduring debates in science, covering the evidence, history, and legal battles surrounding evolution education.
The winning book will be announced in the CFI WNY newsletter and on the Secular Book Club webpage.
