Northern Tier Day 16!

Well rested and fueled by a wonderful stay at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church, the FCBA took off from Havre to ride over 88 miles into Malta, MT. It was another day of minimal elevation and high tailwinds, allowing the riders to fly through miles.
As promised, the farmland persisted. However, today brought about more varieties of foliage and distant mountain-views which were a joy to witness. By the end of the ride, the farms turned into larger hills that offered a change in scenery.

The riders arrived at St. Mary’s Catholic Church here in Malta. Dinner team crafted up an excellent home-cooked meal to refuel from the day and prepare for tomorrow. The crew also celebrated one of our rider’s birthdays today and enjoyed cupcakes and ice cream after dinner! In the morning, the riders will once again mount their bikes and return to the streets, this time headed for Glasgow, MT.

Big miles, bigger hearts! 🚴‍♂️💪

Over the weekend, the Canyon Connector crew too part in their first volunteer day of the trip! We teamed up with our amazing partners at the Utah County Fuller Center in Price, UT, to roll up our sleeves and build community. The team spent the day repairing porches and fixing up exterior skirting for several mobile homes in the area. 🛠️✨

But the hard work didn’t stop there! Monday brought our second big bike ride—and the first major climbs of the trip. 🏔️

The stats for the day:

Distance: 75 grueling miles
Route: Provo to Price, UT
The Challenge: Busy highway traffic and serious elevation!

Our riders handled the chaotic roads like absolute pros, crushing the climbs and safely navigating right into the waiting arms of our incredible hosts for the next few days.

Northern Tier Day 15!

Today, the FCBA rode over 61 miles from Chester to Havre, MT. As promised, the flatlands of Montana offered little climbing and a subtle tailwind. Fields of wheat, mustard, and farm equipment lined the route, creating a consistent and scenic ride. The riders passed through several towns along the way, each of which offered a feel of small-town America.

The team rolled into town and bunked at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church. Everyone had time to relax and rest after the ride. A wonderful dinner provided by the church staff gave everyone a chance to break bread and share stories from the trip.

Tomorrow morning the riders hop back onto Highway 2 and continue east towards Malta, MT.

Northern Tier Day 14!

From mountains to farmland, today's ride had it all! The riders covered just over 100 miles from Browning to Chester, MT.

Leaving the mountains near East Glacier, they headed east into sweeping farmland and rolling hills. A helpful tailwind pushed the group along as they logged mile after mile across northwest Montana, with buffalo, cattle, and thousands of acres of fields on the horizon.

Chester United Methodist Church welcomed the team and provided a hearty home-cooked meal that revived everyone after the century ride.

Tomorrow, the FCBA will continue east toward Havre, MT, where more farmland awaits.

Northern Tier Day 13 was stunning!

Today, the FCBA rode over 71 miles from West Glacier to Browning, MT. The first half of the route ran beside the Middle Fork Flathead River; beyond that, the road headed towards East Glacier and opened into more incredible wilderness with constantly growing mountain skyline. At rest stop two, the group enjoyed views of the mountains at Marias Pass Obelisk in Summit. Little Dog and Summit Mountain drew the riders’ eyes as they refueled for the following 24 miles to the Blackfeet Indian Reservation and into Browning.

Hosted by Four Winds Presbyterian, the crew enjoyed a relaxing afternoon to reset after today’s ride and two nights of camping in Glacier.

Tomorrow, they tackle the first century ride of the Northern Tier as they head toward Chester, MT.

🚴‍♂️ Day 1 of the 2026 Canyon Connector Bike Adventure is officially in the books!

We kicked off an epic 750-mile, two-week journey that will take us through stunning landscapes, multiple volunteer days, and stops at both Bryce and Grand Canyon National Parks.

Today’s ride took us 40 miles from our starting line at The Mountain Church in Salt Lake City to our incredible weekend hosts at the Provo Seventh-Day Adventist Church. What a beautiful way to start what is sure to be a trip for the ages! 🌄

A great report on our first build day of the cross-country ride!

OTHELLO — Sometimes help comes in the strangest of ways. For some homeowners in need of repairs, it can come wearing an orange T-shirt and riding a bicycle.

Northern Tier Day 11!

Today, the FCBA rode 84 miles across western Montana from Plains to Kalispell. The route took the group through wide, open farmland framed by mountain scenery. Riders benefited from great weather and a helpful tailwind at times that made up for yesterday’s rain.

Upon arrival, the group was welcomed by First Presbyterian Church of Kalispell, where they will spend the evening. Riders also had the time to explore town and enjoy what Kalispell has to offer, such has delicious restaurants, beautiful views, and a small-town feel.

Tomorrow, they'll set off for Glacier National Park where they'll camp for two days to explore and enjoy the park’s unique landscape.

Northern Tier Day 10!

Today’s route covered a 97.8 mile trek from Kellogg, ID to Plains, MT over wet, rocky trails. Though the conditions were far from perfect, the scenery more than made up for it: rolling mountains and lush greenery framed the route. Near the end, after the rain cleared, riders were rewarded with sweeping views of western Montana as they followed the winding roads along the Clark Fork River. Dramatic rock formations gave way to the expansive farmland around Plains, stealing everyone’s attention. The crew also checked another state off the list today with their crossing into Montana.

The FCBA was graciously welcomed here in Plains by St. James Catholic Church where the crew ate and rested to tackle another day on the Northern Tier tomorrow.

Northern Tier Build Day 2!

The FCBA combined forces with the local Silver Valley Fuller Center to work on several projects here in northern Idaho.

Braving today's rainy weather, the team split into two. The first group spent the morning clearning trash from a Fuller Center property. Additionally, as Judy Blalack transitions her role from the local Fuller Center President to retiring president, they assisted in transferring her years of notes and documents to the next leaders filling her shoes to best ensure her legacy continues in the community and the Fuller Center continues to thrive. The other group worked on the home of Michelle, helping clear her yard, mow the lawn, repair her door, and increase her home security. Both teams made fast work of their tasks and truly showed the power of combined effort and collaboration.

The day ended back at First Baptist Church in Kellogg where the crew was served a delicious meal provided by St. Rita Catholic Church.

Tomorrow, the riders return to the road to tackle a near 100 mile ride that will bring them into western Montana.
