Phoebe Sumter hosted our 15th annual Ties that Bind Luncheon today, giving boys an opportunity to spend quality time with male role models and get a lesson on how to tie a necktie. Our guest speaker was Emory McKenzie who attended our Ties that Bind event as a young man. He now works as a geologist for Chevron in Texas. Emory told us, "It was great to be able to be mentored by community leaders at such a young age. Learning how to tie a tie is a basic skill that has allowed me to help others who didn't know how. I can't put a value on how important it has been to me. I am glad I was able to pick up a skill of tying a tie at an early age."
We thank Emory for his motivational words today, and we appreciate all the community leaders who took time to have a positive impact on our future leaders.
