On Thursday September 3rd, Sumter County FFA was able to collaborate with our amazing SCHS Exemplary Education department by giving a tour of the Ag Facility. These students were able to learn a little about caring for cattle from members of our livestock show team. Several of these outstanding students were able to pet the cattle during their visit. One young man started off the tour very nervous but was able to work on the courage to pet Petunia. They ended their tour by visiting our goats and feeding them animal crackers! Ms Davis’ class is even going to help us name them.

I believe in the future of agriculture and these young people are part of the future of agriculture.

On Thursday September 3rd, students in the Agriculture Classes at Sumter County Middle School spent the day touring the Ag Facility and learning about the livestock we have housed on our campus. Students were able to hear from Young Farmer Advisor Mr Brogdon and members of our livestock show team, Jake Dutcher, Jayden Clark, and Joslyn Huffstutler about how to care for cattle. They also spoke about all the things that they are doing each day to prepare for our upcoming livestock shows.

🍎🌽 What happens when STEM meets agriculture?

Students become engineers, designers, problem-solvers, and innovators.

Through the 2026 Georgia Ag Experience STEM Challenge: Farmers Market Madness, students will tackle real-world challenges, think creatively, work as a team, and explore how science, technology, engineering, and math connect to agriculture and local food systems.

It's a fun, hands-on way to bring STEM to life in the classroom.

🗓️ Registration is open through September 11.
