SCFR Volunteer Firefighters conducted their monthly training at Station 1 tonight. The firefighters reviewed and practiced search and rescue techniques used at a structure fire using thermal imaging cameras.

Our Volunteers train each month to stay proficient at their many required firefighter skills. We are always looking for new members and have a place for you on our professional team.

Master Firefighter Preston Fant
DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department. Tucker, GA
Master Firefighter Fant died while operating at a warehouse fire on a movie production company’s property on South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road when he was overcome by fire conditions. As crews battled the blaze, it was quickly realized Firefighter Fant needed help and began a rescue operation. When Fant was located, they pulled him out and started life-saving efforts as they rushed him to Grady Memorial Hospital. More than 12 firetrucks and more than 30 firefighters responded to the fire. Firefighter Fant served with the department for 21 years. He was not only a firefighter, but one who maintained technical skills to include swift water, high-rise and trench rescues.

Dougherty County EMS Ambulance Involved in Collision, No Serious Injuries Reported

ALBANY, Ga. — A Dougherty County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ambulance was involved in a rollover collision shortly after 7 a.m. this morning at the intersection of Pine Avenue and Monroe Street. The vehicle was carrying three EMS crew members and two patients at the time of the incident.

All five occupants, as well as those in the two other vehicles involved, sustained only minor injuries. No life-threatening injuries have been reported.

Emergency protocols were followed immediately and the patients were transferred to the hospital for continued evaluation and care as a precautionary measure.

“The safety of our patients, crews, and community remains our highest priority,” said James Gibney, Dougherty County EMS Director. “We are grateful that no serious injuries occurred and we appreciate the swift response of first responders at the scene.”

The incident is under investigation by Georgia State Patrol and further information will be released as it becomes available.
