This summer, our students went to the DC Central Kitchen to earn community service hours while simultaneously learning about prepping food and the nonprofit’s mission: combating hunger and poverty through job training and job creation. By teaching the students how to build a more equitable food system that ensures access to healthy, dignified food and economic opportunity for all, they will have more productive minds and longer, healthier lives.

Jose is from Guatemala and he is a 7th grader at Lansdowne Middle School. After his participation in Liberty’s Promise program, he is able to interact comfortably with students outside of his friend group and has become much more involved in the daily energy during the sessions. He has shared “Liberty’s Promise has helped me to make new friends, become more confident to be able to contribute during sessions and express ideas during group discussions.”
His growth has been meaningful to watch. We are excited to see how much more comfortable and knowledgeable he becomes in the community.

🌟 Student Spotlight: Thank You, John & Davis! 🌟

We want to give a special shoutout to John and Davis, two incredible students from Alexandria City High School who recently graduated and continue to support Liberty’s Promise! 🎓❤️

A junior at Northwood High School, Wendy has grown from being quiet in our program to creating a legal resource bulletin board at her internship all on her own!

Thanks to our partnership with Gilchrist Immigrant Resource Center, they hosted Wendy and allowed her to learn so many things that many other high schoolers would not even imagine is something they could learn.

⚾🔥 WHAT. A. NIGHT! 🔥⚾

Last night, 44 Liberty’s Promise students, staff, and guests headed to Oriole Park for an unforgettable night as the Orioles took on the Brewers!

For many of our students, this was their FIRST-EVER baseball game ⚾️ and they made every second count! From cheering in the stands and soaking in the energy of Camden Yards to getting an exciting shoutout on the big screen with the Liberty’s Promise logo, the night was full of memories.

And the fun didn’t stop there! Our students received Orioles backpacks packed with goodies, enjoyed $20 food vouchers, and had incredible seats in Section 72, right near the action!

The smiles, cheers, and excitement from our students said it all. Seeing them experience a night at the ballpark for the first time made this a truly special evening.

Thank you to the Baltimore Baltimore Orioles for welcoming Liberty’s Promise and giving our students a night they won’t forget!

A big thank you to Alexandria Women for Good for supporting Liberty’s Promise with a generous $15,447 grant! 💙

Our VA & DC Program Director, Melissa, was honored to receive the check on behalf of Liberty’s Promise.

This funding will help provide meals and field trip experiences for students in our two Alexandria programs at Francis C. Hammond Middle School and Alexandria City High School throughout the coming year. 🎓🚌🍎

We’re grateful to the women of Alexandria who came together to invest in local nonprofits and, most importantly, in the young people in our community. Your support helps our students learn, explore, connect, and prepare for their futures!

Thank you, Alexandria Women for Good, for believing in our students and our mission. ❤️
