Providing low-income immigrant youth with the resources to succeed in America.

Since 2005, we've served more than 5,000 low-income immigrant youth who represent over 120 countries through our after-school civic engagement programs and eight-week internship program. We currently run 27 after-school programs in:

Maryland - City of Baltimore, Baltimore, Montgomery & Prince George's Counties

Virginia - City of Alexandria, Arlington & Fairfax County

In this Fashblack Feature Friday, Sudbrook Middle School students had an inspiring day of service at Holt Park, where they turned learning into action. From park clean-up and planting flowers to painting rocks and refreshing trash cans with new designs, students helped bring new life to their community space.

This experience showed students that leadership isn’t just about having a voice—it’s about using that voice to make a difference. Through teamwork, creativity, and service, our students proved that even small actions can create a lasting impact.

Meet Yanely, an incredible 8th grader at Loiederman Middle School, originally from Colombia This spring, she stepped into a leadership role in our Civics Jr program, inspiring others with her kindness, positive attitude, and enthusiasm.

Yanely is always one of the first to lend a helping hand and encourages her classmates to participate and believe in themselves. Her passion for Liberty’s Promise and dedication to helping others made her a true role model throughout the program.

The chilly months of November and December brought some of the warmest memories of the semester at Gaithersburg High School!
One of our highlights was a field trip to Montgomery College, where students explored educational pathways, career opportunities, and campus resources available after high school.
Through campus tours and engaging discussions, students gained valuable insight into college life and the steps they can take to achieve their future goals.
For many students, this experience was an opportunity to see themselves on a college campus, discover new possibilities, and realize that higher education can be within reach. The trip inspired students to dream bigger, build confidence, and start thinking about their futures.

On Friday, Liberty’s Promise students and staff from Alexandria City, Fairfax County, Prince George’s County, and Baltimore City participated in an interview with NBC4 Washington that will air as part of their Back to School series later this month! After the interview, students enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the NBC4/Telemundo studios with TraceeWilkins

What a day! 🚉✨ Students from Charles Carroll, Loiederman, and Francis Hammond Middle Schools visited Metro Discovery Day to learn about careers in public transportation and tour the Metro Integrated Command & Communications Center (MICC)—the behind-the-scenes hub that keeps buses, trains, and communications running smoothly. Thank you, Metro, for inspiring our future workforce!

Since recently arriving from Honduras, Carmina has shown incredible growth, resilience, and leadership in our Civics & Citizenship program at Seneca Ridge Middle School. Her confidence blossomed throughout the semester, and she quickly became a role model for her peers. Elected as Class President, Aly encouraged her classmates to think outside the box, share their ideas, and believe in their ability to make a difference.
Carmina dreams of one day becoming an immigration lawyer so she can help her family come to the United States and support others navigating the immigration process. Her determination, compassion, and commitment to helping others inspire everyone around her.

We are proud of Carmina and can’t wait to see how her high school journey goes next year.

Thank you to everyone who supported Liberty’s Promise during Give Greater DC!

Your generosity helps make our DC Summer Program for immigrant youth possible and supports students as they complete their community service hours, build confidence, and gain meaningful experiences throughout the summer. 🌱

Last summer, students volunteered at community farms, senior centers, and organizations like Dress for Success and Cisco, where they explored career pathways, developed new skills, and connected with their community.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, shared, and supported our students during this campaign.
