Last week, our Tommy Park and Board Member Steve Hartell had the opportunity to take the field in the annual Congressional Soccer Match at Audie Field.

The match brings together lawmakers, diplomats, community leaders, and soccer advocates to celebrate the power of the game to unite people across backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures.

At ASA, we see that same power every day. Soccer creates connections, builds community, and provides opportunities for young people to develop confidence, leadership, and lifelong skills. We were proud to have them represent on the field and grateful to be part of a broader soccer community that continues to use the game as a force for good.

And good news, no one got injured! 😆

What a night for soccer in Alexandria. 🇭🇷⚽

Yesterday, hundreds of local youth players had the opportunity to watch the Croatian National Team train right here in our city as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

We were honored to support this event by running small sided games for kids from organizations across the city. How fun to get to play a little before watching the pros! Moments like these remind us of soccer’s unique ability to inspire young people, connect communities, and bring the world together through the beautiful game.

A special thank you to AlexandriaVA.gov, Police Department, City of Alexandria, Virginia, Visit Alexandria VA, Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va., and all of the partners who helped make this incredible experience possible. We know kids in our community will be talking about this one for years to come.

Such a fantastic event last night! We were thrilled to support the evening by running activities for kids from across the City!

The World Cup came to a neighborhood field in Alexandria — and our kids were on the front row. ⚽️

Last night at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va., Croatia’s World Cup squad turned a training session into a once‑in‑a‑lifetime moment for hundreds of local players, families, and first responders who helped make it happen. From Alexandria Soccer kids lining the sidelines to city leaders and officers keeping things safe and welcoming, it felt like the world’s game had dropped right into our backyard.

We weren’t in the planning room, but we are here to tell you what it meant for this community. See the photos, hear from Visit Alexandria and APD, and find out why this base camp could be a game‑changer for our city.
