The mission of the Respiratory Compromise Institute is to prevent suffering and death from Respiratory Compromise by optimizing its recognition, monitoring and management. The Respiratory Compromise Institute is a coalition of healthcare, patient safety, and medical organizations who have come together to bring awareness of clinicians and the public about respiratory compromise.

romise” is defined as a state in which there is a high likelihood of decompensation into respiratory failure or death, but in which specific interventions (enhanced monitoring or therapies) might prevent or mitigate decompensation.
