OH SWEET CHILD. 💔 RIP. Our hearts ache for this life lost too soon.

: Las Cruces Police confirm a 9-year-old girl with autism died after she wandered off from her home and was struck by a train early this morning (Tuesday).

Sometime around 2 a.m., police say the girl wandered off from her home on Conway Avenue and on to the railroad tracks near south Main Street and Conway. They say a BNSF train hit her and then stopped afterward.

Her family reported her missing shortly before first responders found her body. Police identified the girl as Nancy Harvey and stated she had autism.

The investigation is ongoing.

What does it take to keep a child safe? What *should* it take to keep a child safe??

How many calls to Child Protective Services should it take? How many warning signs? What are the consequences?

🚨 Look at the past history of this case. THIS IS CRAZY.

🚨 Our kids are not okay.🚨

Albuquerque police were forced to break into the vehicle to rescue the boys, who were lethargic, sweaty and hot to the touch.
