Sometimes the biggest hearts come with the biggest mess. ❤️‍🔥 Meet Beva, everyone’s best prima, played by the incredible Rachel Sedillo!

Rachel Sedillo (she/her) has been doing theatre in Albuquerque since 2008 and is a board member of Theatre 3 (Theatre 3), a fiscally sponsored entity of Abq Arts Hub. She is a Director at heart and has most recently directed full productions of “How the Stars Used to Shine There” by Jenny Hoffman and Michelle Lawson-Hughes and “In the Middle of Grand Central Station” by Nancy Pahl Gilsenan. She is thrilled to be onstage for this production and hopes that you enjoy Beva and this world of primos as much as she does! She’d most like to thank her boys and wonderful husband for being her biggest supporters and the best part of every day.

SANTA BEVA continues this weekend, Friday and Saturday at 7PM and Sunday at 6PM! Seats are filling up, so get your tickets in advance at blackouttheatre.com!

SANTA BEVA: Meet the playwright!

Leonard Madrid (he/him/él) is a New Mexican theatre maker. His plays have been performed around the United States. He has been an artistic core member of Blackout Theatre for almost 20 years. He is currently an Associate Professor of Theatre at ENMU.

(ok that’s the bio in our show program, but forgive a proud theatre company for elaborating!) Leonard is a multi-award-winning playwright and one of New Mexico’s most exciting writers, bringing celebratory, heartfelt, hilarious, crucial stories about New Mexican Latine families (especially primos) to stages across the country.

And did you know: Santa Beva takes place in the same universe as Prima’s Guide to Funerals, H-E-Double Crooked Letter, and other plays featuring an extended family spanning Mesilla to Denver? If you’ve seen one of Leonard’s plays before, you’re sure to catch some easter eggs in this one!

Don’t miss SANTA BEVA, opening this Friday and running through June 21!
