Dual Language Education of New Mexico (DLeNM) is a New Mexico-based, nonprofit organization working with schools and educators nationally and internationally to develop, support, and advocate for high-quality dual language bilingual education. DLeNM is a non-profit organization serving the professional and informational needs of New Mexican
communities who wish to develop, refine and/or implement dual language

A few weeks ago, educators and students at Sun Valley Elementary School in the Washoe County School District came together for Project GLAD Preschool Foundations Training with Inés Pérez and Melanie Hill.

It was inspiring to see teachers and students learning, growing, and building meaningful connections together. Thank you to everyone who made this experience so impactful!

🎉 That's a wrap on the 2026 Translanguaging Classroom Institute!

What an incredible two days of learning, collaboration, and inspiration. Educators from across New Mexico and beyond came together to deepen their understanding of translanguaging, explore innovative classroom practices, and engage in meaningful conversations that honor and leverage the linguistic and cultural assets of multilingual learners.

From thought-provoking keynote sessions to hands-on workshops and rich networking opportunities, participants strengthened their skills, shared their expertise, and reaffirmed their commitment to creating more inclusive and affirming learning environments for all students.

Thank you to our presenters, partners, and participants for making this institute such a powerful experience. We leave energized, inspired, and ready to continue this important work in our schools and communities.

A former ELD and ELA teacher in Arizona, Dr. Flores has dedicated her career to supporting culturally and linguistically diverse students and their families. Her work explores Latina mothers’ and daughters’ literacy practices, the teaching of young writers in diverse classrooms, and the powerful role of family and community literacies.

As the founder of Somos Escritoras, Dr. Flores creates spaces where Latina girls in grades 6–12 can discover their stories, honor their histories, and amplify their voices through storytelling, writing, and art.
