NATIONAL V-J DAY SEPTEMBER 2, 1945.
September 2nd, National V-J Day (Victory over Japan Day) recognizes Allied Forces’ victory over Japan during World War II. Officials announced the surrender of Japan to the Allies on August 15, 1945. The official signing of surrender took place on September 2, 1945, officially ending World War II.

National Su***de Prevention Month and Hispanic Heritage.
Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance •September 11: Honors the victims and first responders of the 2001 terrorist attacks. Flags are flown at half-staff, and Americans often observe a moment of silence or engage in community service.
Constitution Day and Citizenship Day (September •17): Celebrates the adoption of the U.S. Constitution in 1787 and recognizes all who have become U.S. citizens.
• National POW/MIA Recognition Day (Third Friday in September): Honors prisoners of war and those still missing in action. The specialized POW/MIA flag is displayed widely on federal and military properties.
Air Force Birthday (September 18): Marks the official establishment of the United States Air Force as an independent branch of the military in 1947.

Today The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) marks its official birthday on August 10. It was established on August 10, 1949, when President Harry Truman signed amendments to the National Security Act of 1947, turning the National Military Establishment into the unified Department of Defense.

Each year on August 7, Americans pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who were either wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. The Purple Heart is awarded to any member of the U.S. Armed Forces who has been wounded or died as a result of a wound in battle. Thank you for your Service and Ultimate Sacrifice. 4 August 1790 – President George Washington signs the Tariff Act that authorizes the construction of ten vessels, referred to as “cutters,” to enforce federal tariff and trade laws and to prevent smuggling. The Revenue Cutter Service expanded in size and responsibilities as the nation grew.
1915 – The Revenue Cutter Service merges with the U.S. Life-Saving Service, and is officially renamed the Coast Guard, making it the only maritime service dedicated to saving life at sea and enforcing the nation’s maritime laws.

If you will like to be come a member here’s the eligibility: American Legion Auxiliary eligibility requires being a direct relative of an eligible veteran, a spouse of a veteran, or a female veteran herself. Eligible relatives include grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses, and direct or adopted female descendants (up to the degree of granddaughters). American Legion Auxiliary Unit 13, at School of instruction July 25, 26, 2026. It was so well attended and informative. We celebrated the 250 America Bday. We enjoyed the fellowship, All the information that it was given to us, we had doors prices, raffle tickets, 50/50, today is the continuation of the school of instruction.
