Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has stepped up and helped us take care of these kittens! We still have 4 older bottle babies looking for at least temporary foster (long term available if preferred 😉). We think they’re probably about 1-2 weeks away from being mushers

THANK YOU 🙏

Update! We have placement for the bottle babies! Thank you! Still looking for fosters!

‼️We need more fosters! Please!

We’ve been asked to take several litters but without space we can’t accept them and give them that chance.

- Litter of 5 bottle babies

- Litter of 5 mush eating babies

- Litter of 5 older kittens waiting to make weight for surgery (pending transport to Albuquerque )

- 2nd litter of 5 older kittens waiting to make weight for surgery too (pending transport to Albuquerque)

Southwest Cat Initiative provides all medical care, supplies, and surgery. New to fostering? We’re happy to teach and guide you through the process! See a few of the kits below looking for space!

Found kittens? Here’s what to do 🐱🐾

It’s instinct to jump in and help but in many cases, the best thing you can do is *wait*. Mother cats often leave their kittens temporarily while they search for food and will return.

Knowing when to step in (and when not to) can make all the difference for their survival.

Save this for later and share to help more kittens stay safe 💙

Kitten season is here, and we need foster homes!!

If you’ve been thinking about fostering but weren’t sure if you’re ready, now’s a great time to jump in. All of our current kittens are eating on their own, so no bottle feeding, no 2am alarms. No experience required - we’ll walk you through everything and are here if you need any help or have any questions. We provide all the food, supplies, and medical care - you just provide the space (and some snuggles 😉).

A spare bathroom or a quiet room works perfectly - kittens actually do best when they start in a small, calm space while they settle in. It’s good for them and it makes the whole experience easier for you too.

If you’re even a little curious, please reach out. We’d love to talk through what fostering looks like and find a good match for you.

52 cats and kittens. One Saturday. Done by 5pm. 🎉

We just wrapped our May spay/neuter clinic and honestly? We’re still riding the high. A full house, an amazing team, and every single patient accounted for.

A massive thank you to our volunteers, especially those who jumped in last minute — you know who you are, and we couldn’t have done it without you. And as always, huge gratitude to Northwest Animal Clinic & Hospital for opening their doors and making this all possible.

Each of those 52 animals is one less litter contributing to cat overpopulation in our community. That math adds up fast, and it starts here.

We took Sunday to rest. Now we’re already looking ahead to the next one. Stay tuned. 🐱

Hey friends! The quiet you’ve noticed from us lately is a testament to how much has been happening behind the scenes. We have our next spay/neuter clinic coming up and we already have over 50 cats signed up!

We could use a few more hands. This Saturday, May 16th, we’re getting started at 7:30am and going until we’re done (aiming to wrap by 6pm). We have a couple of open spots in recovery and one more in surgery prep.

Huge thanks to Northwest Animal Clinic & Hospital for hosting us again! 🐱
