I know some people will find the fact that we are sharing this article on this page a bit confusing. It is true that New Mexico now has two 501(c)3 organizations devoted to Route 66.

My name is Vickie Ashcraft and I created this page many years ago when I was president of the New Mexico Route 66 Association.

Questionable activities taken by the association caused several of us to distance ourselves and form the New Mexico Route 66 Alliance.

We welcome you to visit our website at route66alliancenm.org and follow our page at New Mexico Route 66 Alliance.

Citing a need to “ensure New Mexico’s 526-mile stretch of the Mother Road is preserved, promoted, and positioned for long-term sustainability” during its centennial year, the New Mexico Route 66 Alliance officially announced its launch on Jan. 2. The launch also illustrates the split within th...

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James "Bozo" Cordova.

Bozo and his wife, Anna, opened an auto restoration and towing company in Santa Rosa over 40 years ago. They later opened the popular Route 66 Auto Museum in 2000. He had a passion for cars and built his first model car at 6 years old and his first real car when he was 12.

Rest in Peace James. You will be greatly missed.

The possibility of reopening a New Mexico Route 66 Museum in Tucumcari is great news! Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Mesalands Community College and a new board can make it happen.

The now-closed New Mexico Route 66 Museum in Tucumcari is seeking a new home at the long-vacant Alco building on the city’s west side. It may be joined by a proposed New Mexico State Police museum and memorial in that space. With luck and funding, the two museums may open in that space by 2027. .....
