This year’s Spring Recycle Fest was again a success, with 700 families delivering:
- 8,900 lbs of documents for secure shredding and recycling
- 7,000 lbs of clothing for reuse and recycling
- 4 vans full of high quality books for reuse and 16 cubic yards of books for recycling
- 600 lbs of cardboard boxes for recycling
- 67 bicycles for reuse
Thanks to everyone who participated, and to our amazing Composting & Recycling Dept, the BCSD Green Team, the Delmar Farmer’s Market, and Grassroot Givers for organizing and running the event!

What a productive day we had working with these hardworking volunteers from Broadview FCU! They helped push us further along in our renovations. We were so grateful they gave up their whole Saturday to help us here at Grassroot Givers!

In honor of Black History Month we are highlighting Christie! Introduced by Mattel in 1968 Christie was created during the end of the Civil Rights movement and was the first doll produced with a face mold that was based on African-American features!
