🇦🇫🤝🇺🇸 A Meaningful Day of Community, Leadership & Civic Engagement
Today, the Afghan American Community Center had the opportunity to participate in a very informative and meaningful gathering with leaders from across New York’s Capital Region.
We were honored to hear from New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Congressman Paul Tonko, Senator Patricia Fahy, Assemblymember Gabriella Romero, Albany Mayor Dr. Dorcey Applyrs, Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy, and many other community, labor, and organizational leaders.
It was a valuable opportunity to listen, learn, connect with friends and community partners, and hear about the work and plans being carried out throughout our region.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Assemblymember Gabriella Romero for her kind words about the Afghan community in the Capital Region. We especially appreciate her introducing us to Governor Hochul and sharing with the Governor the achievements, contributions, and community work of Afghans throughout the Capital Region.
We also sincerely appreciate Governor Kathy Hochul for her kind words and for expressing her commitment to supporting communities and working together to help Afghan families and residents in the Capital Region.
At the Afghan American Community Center, we believe that being informed, participating in our communities, registering to vote, and taking part in elections are important ways to make our voices heard and contribute to our community.
🇦🇫 We encourage everyone who is eligible to vote to register, learn about the issues and candidates, participate in the electoral process, and make their voice heard.
Together, through community participation, education, and civic engagement, we can continue building greater opportunities for our families and future generations.
