As part of Week of Caring, our Disaster Recovery team & awesome volunteers spent time in Damascus on Wednesday helping a local resident with debris removal and light yardwork.

We’re proud to support our neighbors and help create safer, stronger communities through hands-on service. Small acts of kindness can make a big impact, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make this cleanup day a success!

🚌💙 What a great Week of Caring event in Abingdon!

Yesterday, our Stuff the Bus event at First Community Bank on Maringo Road brought our community together to collect school supplies and assemble pencil pouches for local students.

A special thank you to the volunteers from Anthem HealthKeepers for giving their time and energy to support this important effort. We’re also incredibly grateful to Washington County Schools for lending us one of their school buses to help promote Stuff the Bus!

If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, there’s still time! The Stuff the Bus donation box will remain inside at First Community Bank, located at 24412 Maringo Road in Abingdon, for the next couple weeks. Stop by and drop off new school supplies to help local students start the year with confidence.

Another amazing Week of Caring event is in the books! 💙

Yesterday, our Flourish NRV Diaper Drive-Thru brought together incredible community partners to support local families in the New River Valley. Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and partners, we were able to serve 25 moms with essential supplies, resources, and support.

A heartfelt thank you to CHIP, a program of New River Community Action, Huddle Up Moms, one of our doula friends, and Anthem Healthkeepers for helping make this event such a success. Together, we're ensuring mothers and infants in our region have access to the care, encouragement, and resources they need to thrive!

What an incredible start to Week of Caring 2026! 💙

Today, volunteers came together at our Flourish Postpartum Kit Assembly event in St. Paul to support local mothers and families by assembling more than 20 postpartum recovery kits filled with essential comfort and recovery items, including postpartum care supplies, hydration support, breast care essentials, cozy socks, and personalized notes of encouragement created by our volunteers.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers from Anthem HealthKeepers and UWSWVA's very own Board Member, Jake Holmes, for giving their time and making a meaningful impact in our community. Your support helps ensure local mothers have the resources, comfort, and encouragement they need during the postpartum journey!

You see ALICE every day - but you might not know it.

Workers who are ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) care for children, check out groceries, cook meals, and help with everyday banking needs. Even beyond the workplace, ALICE shows up for our communities across civic, social, cultural, religious, and recreational spaces. And yet, ALICE struggles to get by, with income above the Federal Poverty Level but less than the cost of basics in their counties.

ALICE is everywhere. Let’s make sure ALICE is seen. Explore our new Report, The in Virginia, in partnership with : UnitedForALICE.org/Virginia
