Join us on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM for a fun and meaningful Earth Day celebration for the whole family!

Main Event Location: Abingdon Visitor Center/Fields-Penn House (corner of Main/Cummings)
Recycling Event Location: Abingdon, Virginia Police Department Parking Lot

We are also collecting supplies to help local animals in need at the new Washington County Virginia Animal Shelter:

As part of their mission to keep Tennesseans safe on our roadways, the Bristol Tennessee Police Department has teamed up with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office to share information about the Precious Cargo Act. Through this program, Tennesseans can add a confidential note to their vehicle registration to alert law enforcement and emergency responders that someone in their vehicle has a disability or medical condition. This program is especially helpful for those who have difficulty communicating verbally, those who need help exiting a vehicle, those who use assistive devices, and those who live with conditions like autism, Alzheimer's, Down syndrome, or other cognitive or developmental conditions.

To participate in this program, simply download the form at https://ow.ly/znlc50Ypf27, fill out your section, ask your doctor to complete the medical section of the form, and return the signed form to the County Clerk's office. It's a great way to ensure first responders are aware of your specific needs!

Join us Saturday, November 15, from 9 AM–Noon at the Abingdon, Virginia Police Department parking lot (425 W. Main Street) for our annual Free Community Recycling Event!

We’ll be collecting:
✅ E-waste (electronics)
✅ Documents for shredding
✅ #1, #2, and #5 plastics
✅ Aluminum cans
🚫 No household hazardous waste materials, please.

💚 While you’re recycling, help us support our community:
🥫 Non-perishable food
🐾 Pet food & supplies (dog/cat food, treats, toys, blankets, towels, bleach, cat litter, carriers, gently used beds, and Dawn detergent) for the newly renovated animal shelter — now located at 15050 Lee Highway, Bristol, VA.
