Our People Incorporated Financial Services team proudly represented our commitment to helping small businesses thrive across the region at the 2026 Small Business Symposium: Access to Capital.

Our Director of Community and Economic Development shared her expertise on the "Navigating the Small Business Funding Maze" panel, and our PIFS Board Chair helped champion our mission as we connected with entrepreneurs and partners.

Always grateful for the relationships, the energy, and every opportunity to lift up small businesses in our community! 🙌

The PIFS team was proud to attend the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity’s 2026 Small Business Symposium: Access to Capital!

It was a privilege to have our Director serve on the “Navigating the Small Business Funding Maze” panel, sharing information and resources to help regional entrepreneurs explore financing opportunities and pathways to capital.

The symposium was also a great opportunity to connect with community leaders, small business owners, and new and familiar partners, including Charlotte Mullins, Business Development Specialist for the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority (VCEDA) and PIFS Board Chair.

We offer several types of housing support for individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

More than a decade ago, Teresa came to Head Start looking for a little extra support for her son, and she found much more. ❤️

Teresa enrolled her oldest son in Head Start Center because he was struggling with speech. Once he started, his teachers quickly saw him begin to thrive. He grew more confident, his communication improved, and Teresa saw firsthand what the right support could mean for her child.

Today, that little boy is a bilingual high school senior with an impressive SAT score. He tutors younger students and has already been accepted to several universities.

And Teresa's Head Start story didn't end with him.

She later enrolled her second son and, later, her daughter Gianna, who now wakes up excited to go to school each day.

Today, Teresa also helps other Spanish-speaking parents learn about and navigate Head Start, sharing an opportunity that has meant so much to her own family.
