SWEDISH FRIEND OF LOFA-LIBERIA TEDDE JEANSSON SR. PASSES AWAY! 😭
The Swedish citizen Mr. Tedde Jeansson Sr. has privately financed 25% of all projects supported by the Swedish Education Fund for Liberia (SEFL).
In Lofa County alone, since 2018, SEFL has funded 27 school construction projects, 27 hand pump projects, and countless additional initiatives that have improved daily life for youth and communities across the region.
As a young and deeply curious man, Tedde first came to Liberia in 1958, working with the team that built LAMCO, even before the new town of Yekepa existed. He often said that this formative period—spent among the kind and hardworking Liberian people—taught him lessons that stayed with him throughout his life.
Tedde went on to become a highly successful businessman, but he never forgot Liberia. On the contrary, his connection only deepened. He co-founded and became one of SEFL’s most committed and generous supporters, driven not by recognition, but by a genuine sense of responsibility and friendship.
Sixty-one years later, in 2019, Tedde returned to Liberia to visit projects he had helped make possible. The photograph from that visit captures everything: two chiefs greeting one another with mutual respect at the Lukasu project—united by a shared pride in serving humanity.
Tedde has now travelled on. His spirit of service will undoubtedly continue to inspire us. Tedde Jeansson’s legacy lives on in every school built, every hand pump flowing, and every life touched in Liberia.
Our thoughts are with Tedde Jeansson’s family and loved ones during this time.

Note: SEFL is not funded by Sweden Government. It is a private funded initiative.
