About Us - Born out of the “Heart of a Volunteer”, the Squadron was formed initially as a support team to assist the Philippine Coast Guard Medical Station - Manila, the 161st Squadron, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR – CL was formed under General Order No. 110-A HCGDNCR-CL dated 19 December 2012. Later to be renamed as 134th Squadron, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR –

CL, the Squadron has become one of the pillars supporting the Philippine Coast Guard tasking of 1) Maritime Search and Rescue 2) Environmental Protection 3) Community Relations and 4) Maritime Security. The 161st Squadron, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR – CL is involved in and has assisted the Philippine Coast Guard and allied agencies in Search and Rescue (SAR) missions, as well as strong involvement in disaster preparedness, response and mitigation. Administrative and Operational control of the 161st Squadron, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR – CL falls under the Commandant of the Coast Guard through the Vice Commandant for Operations. Guided by the shibboleths of Honor, Service, Respect and Camaraderie, the Squadron have been present in almost every major disasters and calamities from Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana), Pedring (Nesat), Quiel (Nalgae), Habagat (Monsoon), Sendong (Washi), Pablo (Bopha), Nando (Kong-Rey), 7.2 Tagbilaran Earthquake, and with the most recent Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). The 161st Squadron was almost always among the first in, arriving within the first 48-hours before or after the land fall. During TS Yolanda 161st Squadron, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR – CL arrived in Tacloban within 12 hours after landfall, and rendered much needed medical assistance and technical rescue support to our country men badly hit in Leyte - Tacloban, Ormoc, Palompon, and in Samar – Guiuan, Sulangan and Hernani.

161st Squadron, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR – CL is a modest non-profit/ non-stock organization under the supervision of The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Squadron was renamed 134th Squadron, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR – CL in July 2015. "HONOR, SERVICE, RESPECT, CAMARADERIE"

Squadron 134, formerly 161st Squadron, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) is a non-stock/ non-profit organization operating under the umbrella of the Philippine Coast Guard. We are a legal entity registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-profit/ non-stock organization under the "161st Search and Rescue Squadron, Inc." We are a Life-Saving organization. Composed of "Volunteers and Heroes" dedicated to the cause of...so others may live. The Squadron was founded by Commander Rodrigo Angelo C. Ong, MD in 2012 and was envisioned to provide Medical Assistance to The Philippine Coast Guard thru the Philippine Coast Guard Medical service. In response however to the escalating needs of the Country, the Squadron expanded its operations from Medical to the four (4) focus areas:

Maritime Safety (MARSAF)
Squadron 134, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) ably assists the Philippine Coast Guard in Port Safety and Security thru its strong presence during peak seasons where the influx of travelers passing through various ports in the Philippines such as during Holy Week, All Saints Day, among others and other tasking that The Philippine Coast Guard may require from time to time. Search & Rescue (MARSAR)
With a variety of skilled individuals at its disposal, including medical and technical Search and Rescue professionals, Squadron 134, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA)has the capability to respond to various types of emergencies. Whether by water, land, and air, Squadron 134, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) continues to build its assets deployable within moment's notice when requested by the Philippine Coast Guard to assist ongoing rescue operations. Marine Environmental Protection (MAREP)
As an auxiliary unit of the Philippine Coast Guard, Squadron 134, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) is mandated to conduct and promote Environmental Protection and Awareness. Maritime Community Relations (MCOMREL)
Squadron 134, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) ably assists the Philippine Coast Guard in building strong relationships particularly through adoption of coastal communities and barangays near rivers and waterways. Volunteer now!
