𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗧 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘 | International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2026

Every October 13, the world observes the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR), led by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), to highlight the importance of reducing disaster risks and strengthening resilience.

This year’s theme, “Resilience Starts at Home,” emphasizes the home as both a place of safety and a frontline of disaster risk. In the Philippines, where communities face recurring hazards, resilient housing, accessible early warnings, and household preparedness are essential to protecting lives. However, resilience also requires inclusive planning, stronger housing policies, and support for vulnerable households.

Disaster resilience is a shared responsibility. By ensuring that every household has the knowledge, resources, and support to prepare for hazards, we can help build safer homes and more resilient communities.
