The Manila Red Cross Youth initiated an in-kind donations for the victims of Typhoon Carina.

RED CROSS TO THE RESCUE
A Philippine Red Cross water search and rescue (WASAR) team on July 24 waded through floods to rescue residents, including children and pregnant women, who fled their homes in Plainview, Mandaluyong and Marulas, Valuenzuela city following heavy rainfall due to Typhoon .

PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon convened his team early on July 24 to immediately mobilize RC143 volunteers and dispatch emergency vehicles, such as rescue boats, ambulance units, and 6x6 multipurpose response trucks in Mega Manila and other affected regions.

“Now is the time to practice 4Ps (Predict, Plan, Prepare, and Practice). I immediately mandated our 102 chapters nationwide to mobilize the Red Cross 143 volunteers because we don’t want people to die. If you need assistance, contact our Operations Center right away by calling 143. This is a dangerous storm; I pray for everyone’s safety,” Gordon said.

PRC Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang urged the public to remain alert and observant to the harms of flooding, especially water-borne diseases.

It is with a heavy heart and utmost sadness that we announce the demise of our dear brother and former faculty member, Sir Dante M. Miranda, on July 1, 2024.

The Bicol University Institute of Physical Education Sports and Recreation, together with the entire Bicol University IPESR Community, extends its sincerest condolences to the bereaved family.

His remains lie at the Nuestra Señora De Salvacion Funeral Parlor and crematorium, Pag-asa Daraga, Albay.

In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust the soul of your servant, Sir Dante M. Miranda. In this life, you embraced him with your undying love; deliver him now from evil and bid him eternal rest. The Philippine Red Cross Albay-Legazpi City Chapter, in partnership with the American Red Cross, recently launched the 𝐁𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭. ⛑️🦺

For the next 3-years, the project aims to institutionalize disaster preparedness policies and structures among communities, households, schools, PRC chapters in the Bicol region, the province, and the local government unit. Through capacity-building activities, such as first aid and basic life support training, the project will empower community members to improve their disaster preparedness practices.

Together, we will embark on a journey to transform crises into compassion and become better equipped to face whatever comes our way. 🫂📈
