We recently caught up with the Jenson family to learn more about their son Sam, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just 18 months old.

Now in his first year at school, Sam loves parkruns, figuring out how things work and, as he told us, eating gummies whenever he's low.

The Auckland Marathon is just around the corner! While there might not be quite enough time to get full marathon ready, there's still plenty of time to get involved.

The 5km, 11km or even the half marathon events are a great way to do just that.

You can also support Team Diabetes New Zealand by making a donation or cheering on our participants at the finish line.

A snapshot of what's been happening behind the scenes lately. Most of our work happens away from the camera, but every now and then we manage to capture some of the lovely candid moments.

Meet some of the people behind the mahi.

Heather Verry, our Chief Executive, has led Diabetes New Zealand since 2017, uniting the organisation nationally and growing its reach across Aotearoa.

Liz Dutton, our Head of Clinical Services, co-leads our Diabetes Community Coordinator programme nationwide. A former Clinical Nurse Specialist in Diabetes, she brings clinical expertise to everything we do.

Matire Ropiha, our Head of Engagement, works alongside Liz to co-lead our Diabetes Community Coordinator programme nationwide. She also manages our iwi partnerships, connecting with existing supporters and developing new opportunities to help grow our impact.

Learn more about them, and the rest of the team, via the link in our bio.
