Relay For Life, Wellington Relay For Life NZ is a nationwide celebration and awareness-raising event for the survivors and families of those with cancer. It's a time for remembrance.

Relay For Life is an inspiring community event that gives everyone a chance to:

Celebrate cancer survivors and carers

Remember loved ones lost to cancer

Fight back by raising awareness and funds to support the work of Cancer Society. Relay For Life is one of the Cancer Society's key fundraising and community engagement activities. It's for people of all ages and fitness levels. Anyone can take part

Volunteering at Relay For Life is about so much more than just giving a few hours of your time. 💜 This month, as part of the International Year of the Volunteer, we're giving a huge shout-out to the St Patrick's College Wellington Service Committee! 👏

While the rest of us headed home for some well-earned sleep, these incredible students rolled up their sleeves and worked their magic to make sure Hnry Stadium was ready to welcome their next event. 🌟

Meet Re-Read for Life 📚

After 10 years fundraising for Relay For Life with her team, The Allsorts, Anne has taken things one step further. She’s teamed up with her book club friend Rachel to create a secondhand bookshop, and it’s seriously stacked.

Books have been donated by the Eastbourne book sale, Tawa Squash Club, Anne’s book club and people from across the community, so there are plenty of great reads up for grabs.

Most books are just $5, or grab a bundle of 5 for $20. Anne and Rachel are covering the admin costs themselves, which means every dollar raised goes straight to the Cancer Society Wellington!

Another month, another amazing volunteer to acknowledge for International Year of the Volunteer! 💛 This August, we are recognising Nicola, who not only lifted the energy for our tired Relayers but did so from 4am! 🌅

When asked why Nicola decided to volunteer at Relay For Life, she said:

"I think it’s important to give back and to support good causes - and events such as Relay for Life need volunteers to make it run. I could give my time to help with the valuable work the Cancer Society does and I am pleased I could be a part of that. I did a 4am shift as I didn’t think there would be many takers for that and ended up getting rewarded with an incredible sunrise." ✨
