Good turn out at Veteran's Affairs Forum. General feedback was that people found out infirmation they didn't know, and got to catch up with old friends. All in all a good day out.

Update from Tawa RSA

The Tawa RSA has made the decision to sell the Bowling Green following the closure of the Tawa Services Bowling Club at the end of the season.

While this marks the end of an era, it is important to be clear — the Tawa RSA is not closing. This is a positive step aimed at strengthening our future.

Proceeds from the sale will be reinvested into improving our clubrooms and facilities, ensuring we can continue to support military veterans, their families, and the wider Tawa community for years to come.

We remain committed to being a welcoming place for remembrance, connection, and community.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Greater Wellington Veterans' Support Forum

Veterans’ Affairs: We will be in Porirua on 27 May to meet with veterans and their whanāu from across the Greater Wellington Region.

The main veterans’ forum will take place on Wednesday, 27 May at Te Rauparaha Arena. At this event, you can meet with staff from across Veterans’ Affairs and other veteran support and community organisations.

If you’re unable to make it on Wednesday but would like to meet with Veterans’ Affairs staff, we can catch up the night before, Tuesday 26 May, between 7:00pm and 9:00pm, at the same venue. Some of the organisations appearing the next day will also be there.

This support is OPEN to all; you do not need to be a member of the Tawa RSA.

As we prepare for our Anzac Day Service at the Tawa Memorial, we are honoured to welcome a number of youth and school groups who have taken the time to deepen their understanding of this important day.

We are especially pleased to have BestStart Tawa and the Redwood School Pupil Council involved, with students creating meaningful artwork and hand-made wreaths that will be laid at the Memorial. Their efforts reflect the spirit of remembrance and ensure that the legacy of Anzac Day continues with the next generation.

We warmly invite the community to join us in recognising their contribution and to stand together in remembrance.

...this time 111 years ago off the shore at Gallipoli.

Night has fallen, and the sea lies dark beneath us. We sit quietly, packed into boats, the weight of tomorrow pressing on every man. Ahead, the distant shoreline of Anzac Cove flickers under the thunder of bombardment—brief flashes tearing through the black, the sound rolling back across the water like distant storms.

There is little talk now. Each of us turns inward, thinking of home, of those we left behind in places like Tawa Flat, wondering what the dawn will bring. We have trained for this, prepared as soldiers must, yet no man truly knows what awaits when first light comes and we step ashore.

Tomorrow, we go forward together.

Lest we forget.
