Just been to the Foodstuffs Emerging Supplier Forum this morning at Pataka, and it was such a useful session for our local communities thinking about creating consumer products for supermarket shelves. They talked about what Foodstuffs looks for in new products, how the supplier process works, customer trends, and practical tips for getting your product ready for supermarket shelves.

If you’re an entrepreneur or just curious about supplying supermarkets and getting products retail-ready then this one is for you.

It’s a great chance to learn, ask questions, and connect with other like-minded business owners.

The team at Foodstuffs and the local operators are a friendly bunch and eager to support you in your journey. Thank you to Porirua City Council for supporting this opportunity for locals.

Such an inspring session.

The next workshop is in Wellington on 6 August 2026. Register here https://www.foodstuffs.co.nz/partnering-with-us/emerging-supplier-forum

We recently held Porirua Multicultural Council’s Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 2 October at Pātaka Art + Museum.💜

The evening opened with a karakia by Dr Taku Parai (Ngāti Toa), followed by welcoming remarks from President Rowena Lopesi. We reflected on a year marked by collaboration, visibility, and connection.

Key updates were presented by the Board, including the Financial Report, President’s Report, and Community Outreach Project findings. The AGM also reviewed updates to PMC’s Constitution, aimed at making it more accessible and reflective of our multicultural context.

Members contributed valuable feedback to ensure our governance continues to serve the community effectively.

We would like to sincerely thank our outgoing Board members: Andrés Proaño Valencia, Frankie Stewart, Tania Siwatibau, Rowena Lopesi Iona, June Murugan, and Chamari Perera. Thank you for their dedicated service and hard work over the past term. Their leadership and contribution have been invaluable to PMC’s growth and community impact.

As we look ahead, we are pleased to introduce the new PMC Board for 2025–2026:

President: Rowena Lopesi
Vice President: Summer Jiang
Treasurer: Chamari Perera
Secretary: June Murugan

We look forward to working alongside all of you in the year ahead. Celebrating our diversity, strengthening community ties, and supporting one another to thrive 🌏🌟

Last Saturday, we celebrated Diwali at North City Mall! 🌸🪔

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and to our amazing performers, Paul Story, Natraj School of Dance, and the Bhatt Group! You all lit up the stage with energy and joy. 🌟

We were also honoured to have Mayor Anita Baker, our friends from Voice of Aroha, and the Upper Hutt Multicultural Council join us for the celebration. 💛

Alongside the performances we had colouring activities and beautiful mehndi (henna) for everyone to enjoy! It was such a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and light. 💜
