Before September rolls around, here's a proper look at where the Boulder A Nationals are happening this year.
Boulder Co. Hamilton opened on 10 February 2024 โ one of the newer climbing walls in Aotearoa. When you're running a nationals at World Climbing format, the setup matters: you need a dedicated competition wall, a layout that allows spectators to see the climbing, and an isolation area big enough accommodate the athletes and their warm-up routines. Boulder Co. has that covered, including what the team describe as the biggest isolation in New Zealand.
The gym is run day-to-day by Travis Rangi, with Adam Caldwell and Adam Dyck as managing directors. Ask them who deserves the credit for how well the gym is run, and they'll point you straight to the front-of-house team. It's a gym that values it's community and its team members.
On 26 September, we're bringing the Boulder A Nationals there. Results here feed into the CNZ Development Squad, and that's where our international teams come from. For athletes thinking about LA 2028, this is one of the comps that counts.
