We’re really pleased to be working alongside Cancer Support New Zealand to help make sure our local wāhine know what support is available to them.

Cancer Support NZ offers free, practical and non-medical support for people affected by cancer, including useful information, online education, expert-led webinars and a range of wellbeing programmes.

They also offer things like online exercise classes, meditation and relaxation sessions, practical workshops and other support designed to help people through treatment and recovery.

One of the programmes available is Look Good Feel Better, which offers free community classes focused on skincare, appearance and confidence during cancer treatment, as well as a chance to connect with others going through similar experiences.

For us at Rotorua Breast Cancer Trust, this collaboration is about helping connect our local wāhine with even more support, information and services when they need them.

We’ll be sharing more about Cancer Support New Zealand and the support available through them.

What an amazing effort. We are so grateful that you chose to support us and spent your weekend not only having a fabulous time together, but fundraising so generously for our local wāhine and whānau affected by breast cancer.

Every dollar raised stays right here in Rotorua and helps us continue supporting local people when they need it most. Knowing how much work, generosity and aroha went into raising this incredible amount makes it even more special.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month here in Aotearoa New Zealand. One in nine Kiwi women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, with up to 3,700 women diagnosed annually. In Rotorua alone two to three women learn they have breast cancer each week. That's a heavy burden for women and whānau to bear. The good news is that 92% of cases are survivable with early detection. This month be sure to check your breasts for any lumps or other unexpected changes and, if you're due and aged between 45 - 74 years, book your FREE screening mammogram.

Our Trust chair, Beccy Ganley, knows only too well how tough a breast cancer journey is on the individual, on their families, and on the community. Like most of our past and present Trustees, Beccy's own experience with breast cancer inspired her to guide and support other women and families going through the uncertainty and the physical, emotional, spiritual and material cost of breast cancer.
That's why the Pink Walk is much more than a fundraising event to us and to our community. It's about raising awareness, honouring and remembering those we've lost; a celebration of survivorship, and a show of deep aroha (love) and support for all whose lives are affected by breast cancer.

Toi Māori/indigenous art expert, breast cancer survivor and Rotorua local, June Northcroft Grant ONZM (Tūhourangi, Ngati Wahiao, Tuwharetoa) holds many distinctions that we as a Trust also hold dear. Not only was June a founding Trustee who helped set up our Trust in 2009, she also created our iconic Hei Tiki tohu (logo) which remains as our enduring symbol of ancestry, guardianship and wellbeing for all peoples. In this clip, June explains the significance of this design and its alignment to the kaupapa of our Trust. Join us and put the 'fun' back into fundraising! The Rotorua Pink Walk starts and finishes at the Village Green on Rotorua's beautiful lakefront on Wednesday 21 October. Our 3.4km course is suitable for people of all ages and abilities and takes most people less than an hour to complete. Walk in unity with our local community, creating a sea of pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Your registration fees, merchandise orders, sponsorships and other donations all help us to continue to support Rotorua women and whānau affected by breast cancer. Breast cancer touches the lives of many people in our local community. When you register for the 2026 Pink Walk, we'd love for you to tell us why you’re taking part in this year’s event.
Maybe it’s to remember a loved one you’ve lost, or to celebrate the life of a friend, family member or colleague affected by breast cancer. It might simply be to show aroha and support for all women and whānau on a difficult breast cancer journey.
