When the ancestors of the Te Arawa people arrived here, they adapted to a new environment, developed a new palate to capitalise on the natural resources in the region. The lakes became their main highway as the trees were sculpted into vessels that took them from village to village and eventually from lake to lake. Today, our natural environment continues to offer opportunities for the entrepreneur, the committed and the creative.
