Pub Charity Limited has supported us for 24 years, & in that time given an incredible $6.4 million to fund Harbour Hospice services. This month we gratefully received a grant of $100,000, which will help cover operating costs across our service and ensure that the 450 people in our care at any given time will receive the compassionate, specialist care that they need, when they need it most, at no cost to them.

Love a good night of comedy? There are still tickets going for The Great Comedy Debate this Saturday 10 Oct - doors open 6pm at the Warkworth Town Hall, Warkworth 😊

⭐This event has become a calendar highlight since it was introduced 17 years ago, with people returning year after year for “a good laugh and good food”, says organiser Murray Chapman. Don't worry about dinner, there'll be more food than you can eat. And wear something comfortable because your sides will be splitting with laughter.

🩵🩵 Thank you very much to the Happy Sewers who gifted us these gorgeous heart cushions & tote bags today, to pass on to our tūroro/patients.

Our patients love the cushions for extra support & to relieve discomfort, & the bags are a great size for keeping together all the extra things they accumulate during their stays in our Inpatient Unit.

The sewing group meets every Thursday at the Glenfield Community Centre & thanks to the support of the Centre and Rotary Kaipātiki they get to not only improve their sewing skills but also give back to their community, & form connections with one another. We receive several cushions & bags every few weeks from them and they're just such a thoughtful gift to be able to pass on. 🩵🩵

When Kiri Martin and her family got Kiri's dad, Ken, into hospice for end-of-life care she said it was like a 'coming home'. “It was such a relief to get him into such a beautiful environment... And just the relief to see his pain managed." Ken died 2 days later, with the impact of his care lingering. “Just the compassion they showed Dad and the dignity, the kindness they extended to our whole family.”

So Kiri left a gift in her Will to Harbour Hospice. “I wanted to ensure that families in the future receive the same care that my dad did.”

You can make a difference this September too. This month it's Wills Month. 😊One more waiata to finish the working week during Te Wiki o te reo Māori! This is our full immersion learning group (made up of clinical & admin staff and our Kaiārahi) singing Kei Whea Rā, which they say really helped them learn the kupu for right, left, forward, back, up, down, inside, outside and in the middle!

😊 Ngā mihi to their awesome kaiako Anna Carroll and Kereama Nathan & Te Herenga Waka o Orewa Marae for this fantastic learning!
