Kete – Wellbeing Support

At Hibiscus Youth Hub, we know that every young person carries their own kete – a basket filled with experiences, challenges, and dreams for the future. Our Kete wellbeing support is here to help young people and their whānau when they need extra guidance and care.

When a young person is part of any Hub program, they can access support from our trained Social Worker/Youth Advocate. Through Kete, we work alongside rangatahi to understand their needs, connect them with specialised services when required, and provide ongoing support as they take positive steps forward.

Kete is about walking the journey together – ensuring young people and their families feel supported, valued, and hopeful about their futures.

Mana Up.

Our gym mentoring programme for young people in enrolled in our local schools (Whangaparaoa College and Orewa College) from Year 7 through to Year 10.

Mana Up supports students at risk of disengaging from school due to challenges at home or school. The programme combines mentorship, physical fitness, and life skills to build confidence and improve wellbeing.

By engaging in gym training and mentorship, students are encouraged to stay on track, make healthy choices, and overcome obstacles, helping them stay engaged in their education and personal development.

Coast Course.

Coast Course is an alternative education programme, offering flexible, hands-on learning in a small, supportive setting.

Through project-based learning and integration with the Duke of Edinburgh awards and Te Kura, students gain credits while developing practical skills, with personalised support to help them succeed based on their strengths and interests.

The young people in this course have the opportunity to join the physical training offered in our dedicated gym space as a part of the weekly timetable, as well as the option to explore opportunities off-site.

**Entry into this programme requires a referral from the NAISS team via the enrolling school (e.g. Whangaparaoa College, Orewa College)**
