💙 THANK YOU, WAKATIPU COMMUNITY

What an incredible result.

Our first-ever Giving Day has officially wrapped - and thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our wider community, we raised a total of $134,335.

In just 12 hours, alumni, local businesses, families, and supporters came together to back Wakatipu High School students in a powerful show of community spirit.

Every donation, every share, and every message of support made a difference.

Because of you, we can continue to invest in what matters most:

Teachers | Literacy & Numeracy | Wellbeing | Outdoor Education | The Āwhina Support Fund

This is what happens when a community stands behind its young people — real impact, real opportunity, real change.

From all of us at the Wakatipu High School Foundation: thank you. 💙

⏰ TOMORROW IS GIVING DAY

After weeks of preparation, our inaugural WHS Giving Day is almost here.

From 8am tomorrow, every donation made will be matched by generous supporters, doubling your impact for local students.

This is more than fundraising - it’s a chance for our community to come together and back the young people who are shaping Queenstown’s future.

WHS is at the heart of our region. Supporting our school means supporting:

✨ Stronger learning outcomes
✨ Student wellbeing
✨ Future workforce readiness
✨ A stronger, more connected community

Even a small gift will go twice as far tomorrow.

💙 Give what you can. Share the message. Be part of something meaningful.

📣 OUR FIRST EVER GIVING DAY IS COMING

On Thursday 30 April, the Wakatipu High School Foundation will launch its inaugural Giving Day - a 12-hour campaign to support our local students and strengthen our school.

This is a simple idea with powerful impact:

💙 One day. Double your impact.

Every donation made on the day will be matched by generous supporters, meaning your contribution will go twice as far in supporting Wakatipu High School students.

As Queenstown’s only high school, WHS plays a vital role in our entire community - educating, supporting, and preparing the next generation.

We’ll be raising funds across five key areas:
Teachers | Literacy & Numeracy | Wellbeing | Outdoor Education | Āwhina Support Fund

Because when our school thrives, our whole community benefits.

Building Belonging at Wakatipu High School

Thanks to a generous $65,000 grant from the Mactodd Community Charitable Trust, the Wakatipu High School Foundation is expanding support for migrant students and families at Wakatipu High School.

With students from more than 62 ethnicities, our school is a vibrant reflection of the Wakatipu Basin - and creating a strong sense of belonging for every student matters more than ever.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Mactodd Community Charitable Trust for investing in the wellbeing of young people in our community.

🏫 Community Support is Vital

That was the message at our WHS Foundation Supporters Breakfast, held at Pavilion Bar & Kitchens on Friday. Wakatipu High School is what it is today because of our community - and as the school continues to grow, facing the pressures of one of New Zealand’s least affordable regions and lower government funding, that support is more important than ever.

We shared our 2026 fundraising target: $400 per student (totalling $600,000) to strengthen our five core pillars: Teachers, Literacy & Numeracy, Wellbeing, Outdoor Education, and the Āwhina Support Fund. WHS Principal Oded Nathan highlighted the incredible student achievements made possible through community backing.

Guest speaker Greg Murphy inspired us with his insights and passion for youth driver safety through the Street Smart programme, and thank you to Quilly for asking the hard questions.

Together, we can continue to create opportunity, remove barriers, and help every student thrive - join us and be part of the difference. 🙌
